He has done enough to get a shot. Brodie Martin/Jarryd Lyons all over again.

You have to give it to Lyons though. Everytime he has gone back to the SANFL he has torn it up. Torn it up to the point that it was hard not to select him, even when he wasn't the best for team dynamic (hence all the sub vests). CEY, Grigg, B. Martin never really did that. CEY this year especially. It's one good performance from him then a down one or two repeating.

How was Kelly's performance? Had big numbers....any chance to come in for VB/Cheney/Henderson if he backs up?

Where was Greenwood played in the game?

CEY seems like he's playing like a good SANFL player. If he's not fixing the issues in his game, there's not much else to be done.

That being said, I do want this lad to get it together. He offers a very different look in the midfield.

I'm interested in Kelly for Cheney.

Whats the point in playing Thommo or VB over him.
Thommo's leadership is still very important .....don't underestimate that, and IMO Thommo's output is still better than CEY's potential

VB just in a different role to CEY ......but VB will be out this week, career coming to an end as he still fumbles which is an indication the games speed is too much for him now

That someone could be himself? Sometimes players need to stick their hand up, play well, do the right things and it will all come together. Doesn't he still smoke? ( i heard this a while ago and not sure if it's still true)

If true someone needs to punch him in the head and tell him to use what he's got before it's too late. Probably not true.

I'm a CEY fan .......but has he? .....the negative on him is his defensive action & i wouldn't say that's an existing strength of our current midfield ?

Besides Lyons deserves first shot

You been watching the sanfl? Neg is his defensive action? Where did u hear that crappola? He doesn't smoke either.
The reason i say this is the very reason u just mentions that 2 way running mids are not our strength. So it ok for mids currently playing afl to not run both ways yet we will keep cey out because he doesn't. That's the sort of hypocritical bullshit that confuses the * out of players, and supporters. Cey has had more rebound 50s this year than inside 50s. How does a one way player do that. Please explain.

Gee there's a lot in this post ....i'm simply repeating a quote from one of the Crows coaches in the last 3 weeks .....can't recall who or exactly the date?

But it wasn't made up .....believe it or not, up to you ;)

Really week after week is there much more cey and grigg can do at sanfl level?
Both are consistently in our best 4/5 players every week. Both rack up over 20 possesions every week. Both get good inside 50 numbers and rebound 50 numbers. Both get reasonable tackle numbers. Both have a unique assett
Cey/ large body good clearance player
Grigg/ elite kick left foot

No I believe u, it makes perfect sense someone at crows would say that. What I am saying is the numbers don't support that bull. Plus he averages a goal a game.
Do u see the hypocrisy on that statement though? Considering I agree with the fact our mids currently don't do enough 2 way running as it stands.

The game has changed this year with the tougher interpretation on out of bounds ......IIRC ball-ups have reduced by some 20 a game ......the game is being played at a pace never seen b4 with few rotations

Obviously the club see's this being detrimental to CEY's strengths ......combined with how many clearance specialists do you have in the side now, if there are fewer clearances per game?

We're trying Cameron, and Milera in the centre bounces, which suggests we're looking for more midfield run .....not a strength of CEY and with Thommo and M.Crouch still in front of him

Make no mistake i've been a CEY fan ;)

That's why last year when cey played and thommo was out we actually had a really good mid combination going, we didn't miss thommo at all. Cey should have been playing in thommos spot for the last 2 weeks, he can be part of our future thomnos not. But as usual we don't make the hard call that needs to be made.

That being the case .....if as i suspect Thommo isn't offered another contract, then CEY will be offered a contract as his replacement ? ......will be interesting watching

Cey signed till end of next year, so yeah will be interesting. When does campo come out of contract, that will be even more interesting. The coach of one way footy Imo. Just like he played.

Have not missed too many SANFL games over the last few years, CEY needs to work on his defensive game, It not always about tackles, but about stopping the opposition run on, it about disposals in the defensive zone, Its about not making errors and bad decision again when the opposition is getting a run on. Most of his errors are leading to opposition scores.
And yes his two way defence is lacking, Also it about positional play, keeping your feet Midfielder pushing for AFL are quick to get to the feet to be part of the next contest,
Watch him closer pay attention to his chase, for some with his speed he should be catching or at least put on more pressure,
CEY made a huge jump last year and all credit for him, But he needs a big jump this year, he has not made that jump,
At this time he is a back up player and playing like one, Next time you watch a game, look how much Grigg want to get the ball even as a so call slow runner he still bust a gut getting to the next contest, On Sat B Crouch gave us an insight into what is expected in that area by a quicker runner.

Thommo will get another year, and unfortunately unless CEY makes another Jump 2017 will be his last.
As Greenwood, Gore, Wigg, Crouch x 2 Milera, Lyons would have jumped him.

CEY signed a 2 year deal at the end of last season so he still has another year to go after this one.
I'm glad Stiffy .....if only the kid wasn't so quiet and had a bit me ego and self belief ....he could be anything

Stiffy has now retired.
