Unrestricted Free Agent Elliot Yeo [UFA 2024]

Well he did rock up to freo quarters before a trade / club of choice was made.

Ross lyon told him he couldn't see a starting position for him and he'd be playing WAFL.

So Yeo walked straight over to WCE.
Keep in mind... this was the end of 2013.

Dockers just made a grand final while West coast didnt play finals.

The 30 year old will play game 200 next year

If 2024 winds up being another underperforming year for the side, does he explore greener pastures? can play multiple positions and probably has another 3 years in him

Unrestricted so eagles can't even match and due to age and likely contract they wont get much in return
big call

Why would he bother leaving? Unless he develops a punting addiction he isn’t going to leave the Eagles for what others wish to pay him to prise him out. I can’t see big offers in his future.

He will just play out his career at West Coast then move into semi-retirement, hoping maybe to last until one last crack in 3-4 seasons time (however unlikely for a number of reasons). Assuming he doesn’t completely fall apart and retire at the end of this contract.

Don't see how any other club would offer him more than the Eagles might (assuming he makes it through next year).

Can play but no club could recruit with any confidence they could get a full year out of him.

And because he rarely plays he's rusty AF when he plays.

Even if a club offered more than us, they are unlikely to offer so much more that it makes him want to leave Perth. It would be Freo or nothing, and can’t see that happening.

You would think so. Most people don't leave basketcases to head to another basketcase.

Dont discount a move to a Melbourne club as an UFA. One that doesnt travel much so no more long haul flights back West match night with tight hamstrings and bleeding corkies. He takes the travel burden off his body he may hope to squeeze an extra year or two on an AFL list earning AFL dollars even if it was $350k plus triggers.

Low dollars, two year deal with triggers. Essendon would be an obvious club and the Pies. Teams who expect to play finals.

A club in a flag window could take a gamble on him being healthy.

What us more interesting though is learning from America. Try this: WC sign Yeo on whatever value some club in the window who wants him thinks he is worth. He is traded to that club but WC pay the contract. That other club sends their first back to WC.

You lose out on the compo (which probably won't be much considering his age) but you do get a 1st rounder to help with rebuild, another club in a flag window gets a gamble at an elite mid if he can stay healthy, and yeo gets one last shot at another flag.

Could work but I don't think people are paying a first for Yeo.

If he had a good physical I would happily pay pick 16 (pick 25 after all the bullshit) for him as a top 4 club. I would even pay more if it was really good.

The problem is we have no idea what state his body is in.

He is UFA, if a club wants him they just pay a premium over what WC offer.

No club is offering a first round pick for a 31 year old Yeo, even if he plays a full season in 2024.

The guy hasn’t played lasted a whole season in nearly 5 years.
Agree, he would be on minimum chips, just playing to get more success
