This is academy or F/S picks in the first or second round for the northern clubs in the last 10 years (not counting Ashcroft etc coming out this year). Have a look at the quality (not quantity) on this list that they all got through matching with a handful of magic beans

That’s 4 of Sydney’s best 6 players, Brisbane’s 3 best young players, GC pillaging almost a quater of the first round of last years draft and a constant stream of very high-end quality for GWS

Sure we got Windy, Owens and McLennon. But we missed out on Cam McKenzie and will probably miss Aiden Cole this year because they look too good. Either let all clubs access their NGA high end talent, or none.

The issue is about the quality they can access on discount that we cant

The team has a off game , stacked with kids because we have no other options and after playing 3 games in 11 days the media start sticking the boots in.
No team in the AFL could lose 8 senior players and expect to perform every week.
King , Wood , Webster , Crouch , Henry , Clark , Howard , Dow , Hayes , Paton and having players like Sinclair , Butler underdone doesn't help as well.
One thing about our poor start to the season is we are getting games into the young guys and it will only get better from here.

I'm in the minority not having a problem with the academies. It's just the payment system that stinks.

My biggest issue there are guys who would otherwise be playing afl at a high level who get basically gifted to the clubs that other clubs who other teams could not have gotten.

JUH Sanders, Campbell mills heeny Blakey Greene hopper Hipwood. Also the zones are wack.

Like Geelong they are elite at finding players despite never finishing low enough to get the good picks. Picking players from the bottom of the ladder is a lot easier but they have got a dream run from academies. The AFL need some kind of system change. Perhaps one academy or FS per side per year and paid for with an equivalent pick not scraps. If they get a couple in one year they lose access the following year.

The double dip system is the dumbest. The Bulldogs who's just played in a GF traded for Treloar knowing that if they didn't use that pick they'd hand it over for JUH. It shouldn't be that a side get's a free hit at a star player and then gets to trade out the high picks for gun player or future picks as well.

The comment from Lloyd was kind of terrible as well and normally I believe him to have a pretty good football brain. Rattles off 4 of our best 22 injuries from the 8 genuine ones we have then goes on about lack of talent.

Like jesus no s**t, most clubs get tested at that level of injury.

We havnt been in good form and been a kick and a bit away from winning 3 of them. Almost identical to Carlton, they have just been on the right side of it when the siren went. It’s a game of inch’s. Just start playing good football again and they will all shut up
