COLLINGWOOD’s Jordan de Goey has been caught drink-driving.

The 21-year-old midfielder blew 0.095 — nearly twice the legal limit — in a random breath test at Beaconsfield Parade in Port Melbourne at 8:25pm last night.

His license has been suspended with immediate effect.

Collingwood today confirmed that Jordan De Goey had notified the club that he had been caught drink-driving.

“He returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.095 per cent after a random breath test in Port Melbourne on Saturday night,” the club said in a statement.

“Club officials will meet on Monday to determine how this matter will be addressed.

“The club will make no further comment on this matter until a decision has been made.

His damn dog spiked his protein shake.

Jokes aside, drink drivers need to be punished more harshly. Such dangerous, anti-social, "who gives a **** about anyone else" self-indulgent behaviour.

The real story.

More accidents are caused by fatigued/sleeping drivers than drink drivers.

edit - should add that the stats were from a while ago, haven't seen anything recent.

Sounds more like a sample size issue. Probably a lot more people driving tired than drunk. On a case by case basis though I'd rather the fatigued driver.

Regardless, way more people die of Malaria than assault rifles, but that doesn't make the latter something not worth preventing.

If Collingwood consider trading him at the end of the 2018 season I would not be against the Swans making enquiries.

They'll already be thinking of packaging him up as part of a deal for Lynch. The problem is that the Suns absolutely have to stop recruiting dickheads. They'll have to try and get a three way deal going.

He is probably going to be one of those players that needs to get offloaded to another club cheaply to finally realise he has to sort his shit out... Mitch Robinson style.

It is often down to culture. Teams with good cultures can afford to take a few questionable players, but teams with poor cultures need to avoid bringing in players who could potentially make things worse. I would back the Swans leadership group to set someone like De-Goey straight.
