Still think we’ll deal with Gold Coast so they can get a player before Lombard. 1 and F2 for 4,10,20 based on last year’s ladder position. Hopefully that would get Jagga, Lalor and Mraz. Plenty of water to go under the bridge though.
I know its early days but have heard we are very interested in young Mraz as other clubs are so lets see how the season pans out for these boys.

Theres a few from the CTL that i want to mention that i think have some talent and could be on clubs radars

Josh Dolan - Sandringham - 177cm - midfielder
Harry Armstrong - Sandringham - 195cm - athletic slim KPF potential, but yet to stand out
Jak Ryan - Eastern - 176cm - small forward - quick elusive and clever, he is a real danger in the forward half
Zac McGown - Eastern - 189cm - medium defender, good contested footy, wins 1 on 1s, uses it well
Thomas Sims - Northern - 199cm - KPF, good contested mark, good kick at goal, moves well for a strong tall
Gabriel Stumpf - Northern - 196cm - mobile KPF, good kick at goal, quicker than he should be
Luke Quaynor - Oakleigh (Coll NGA) - 179cm - brother of Isaac at the pies, really solid hbf
Doug Kerr - Oakleigh (Coll NGA) - 192cm - tall strong mid
Jayden Nguyen - Calder (Ess NGA)- 177cm - very slim and size could hold him back a little, quality player though
Xavier Ivisic - Geelong - 180cm - seems to have gone backwards over the last couple of years, needs to really dominate a game soon or could be fighting for a chance to be drafted from my pov
Lachie Jaques - Geelong - 184cm - strong marking small defender, good use of the footy
Angus Morrison - Geelong - - Tallish forward
Harrison Doughton - Dandenong - 185cm - midfielder
Elwood Peckett - Dandenong (Stk FS)- 187cm - strong defender, pushes into midfield
Archie Watt - Bendigo - 181cm - tough red headed midfielder
Rhys Unwin - GWV - 178cm - small forward
Oliver Hannaford - GWV - 180cm - midfielder
Jack Ough - GWV - 194cm - utility
Max Stobie - Gippsland - 180cm - defender/midfielder

special mention to....
Zaydyn Lockwood - Bendigo - 198cm - one of the best defenders ive seen this year, i wanted to put him in the top 50, but i just couldn't fit him, potential star on the rise?, i need to see more, but he looks good, really good spoil.

other players from other states, that are on the radar, but i have not seen as much yet this year...

Guys a jet who I rate similarly to Travaglia for Bendigo.

Brisbane academy smashed GWS academy in Blacktown today. 117 - 30. Considering we usually fly down the morning of the game, that's a fair effort. Don't have any other details.

i had him rated highly early last year, but he hasnt shown enough late last year and even this year, even though he is playing good footy, he seems a bit short and athletically limited, he has his moments in midfield though, but im not sure what type of player he is at AFL level.

Oakleigh 9 point winners over Tassie. Hats off to Tassie they played a very entertaining style of football. They were very physical with some of Oakleighs prime movers.
With Oakleigh I was very critical of their setup and program direction last week. They seem to have gone to work on a few things and they were far more cohesive today. The forward line was running a distinctive style and was really strong. Charlie Richardson and Noah Yze worked beautifully together, never getting in each other’s way and kicking 2 each with some great high marking.
Jagga was probably BOG but he is a real warrior. Copped plenty of heat from opposition but never gave them an inch.
Hopefully a turning point for OC.

Loving this thread guys!
Great insight into the 2024 draft.

I am curious, how do you think the 2024 national draft is shaping up compared to previous drafts?

For example:
Are Finn and Levi up there with the Sam Walsh or Matt Rowell's at same age?

Do the first 20 kids look like providing the depth of 2019?

Cheers

That's a tough question to answer, I don't think it's as strong as 2018 or 2022 which I believe had depth in elite players, Finn has the movement and size of Walsh without his extreme endurance attributes(although combine tests will confirm if he has elite endurance), but Finn marks the footy like a Jimmy Bartel, Levi is a small forward who has deadly accuracy at goal, but can also accumulate 30 disposals and have a presence in the midfield, which gives Brisbane some flexibility with his role early in his career, I think they are different but in the same kindve league as Walsh and Rowell, it's hard to know without seeing them side by side with these other players though.

There is depth in every draft, you just have to avoid the risky players that are in the top 20 or so.

Cheers Davo.

Appreciate it's a bit early to answer with confidence. You never know until they are out there. Looks likely we have some genuine guns at the top though, good to hear.

While this draft might not have the top end talent of a Harley Reid, my current gut feel is that it will be pretty deep on talent in to the 30’s.

2018 had a lot of top end talent, but the depth fell away very sharply after pick 18.

I believe clubs are getting better at not picking project players at the back end of the first round.

Oh is that what some podcast said? Cheers.

A strong top 30 could work really well for the eagles if we trade out pick 1 and receive priority picks

Turning point after 2 losses to Sandy and Eastern who played off in the 2023 Grand Final..............

They just seemed far more organised than past weeks.
I didn’t go through the Tassie boys as there was no team lists available but I was really impressed with how well they moved the ball and how they linked up.

Noah christy out of maffra a goal threat in all competitions down around my area in east Gippsland will he be a Smoky to be drafted or rookied after an impressive start to the season ?

Wasn't great yesterday (or at least a bit quieter). Only had it 10 times and kicked one goal. Still looks a likely sort. I did manage to get this photo of him from the game yesterday.
