Fog was not terrible today. If you judge him on one goal, that's way too simplistic.

True. Thats why you should judge him on his 6 goals from his last 7 matches. Or his 27 goals from his last 24 matches which looks even worse when 10 of those goals came in 3 games last year against bottom four teams.

The fact that a member of the leadership group is being defended by saying he was "not terrible" today is a pretty damning thing.

Is there a stat for how many times his lead is ignored for a pass to a player in a worse position or the kick is fluffed? Can attribute 2 to Sholl in the second qtr alone.

That explains his 27 goals in his past 24 games? What about his accuracy drop off the past 24 games - can you blame that on everyone else.

His form been extremely disappointing over the past 27 games.

He is the reverse whipping boy.

This excuse is bullshit. He constantly fails to take marks out in front of him when there is moderate pressure from behind.

Absolutely, the delivery has not been great, but Tex has still found a way to have an impact, as a good key forward should.

At some point we need to stop judging Fog on potential and start judging him on output. If not now then when?

There’s no doubt he’s not playing at the level he’s shown previously or he’d want or the club would want, but there’s no doubting our delivery is s**t. They were just 2 kicks in a 15 minute period. Those passes hit weekly and his goal return looks better and you’d find a new hobby.

Also taking into our low inside 50 count this year, the slow gameplan Nicks has implemented, being outnumbered in our forward line and we are Tex centric, it wouldn’t be easy playing the role he does.

Constantly is a tad exaggeration. So players not kicking it to him or shanking their kicks isn’t an issue when assessing a forwards goal return?

Tex is the best forward we’ve ever had, Fog is not Tex nor does he get anywhere near the level of ball directed to him that Tex does.

One of my key issues with Fog at the moment is that he does not mark the ball enough.

He either needs to a) become better at getting separation from his defender or b) have stronger hands so that he can mark it under pressure. Ideally he’d be able to do both.

We quite regularly lose control of the ball because of this.

If the ball is out in front and you have front position on your defender, a good key forward should be able to mark the ball the majority of the time. Fog very rarely does at the moment. I encourage to watch those instance’s carefully on Thursday and compare how Fog handles it vs Tex.

Fair enough, then also concentrate how many times we pass to Tex over Fog, how many times we ignore Fog or shank the kick as well
