Talking to a Western Border committee guy. He said the KNTFL merger has some legal issues raised by the KNTFL in that how far can someone travel for work or something like that.. it’s a 4 and half hour drive if Adelaide players are playing a Mount side.

Penola talks still positive.

Portland players voted against it.

East Gambier are being the real funny ones and are adamant that they are going to the Mid South East to save their club. Absolutely ridiculous. First wooden spoon last year . Premiership and grand final appearance only a few years ago.

Casterton could finish third this year.

What are the numbers of travellers from Adelaide for the Mt Gambier clubs?

If they are lower than some of the KNT clubs, you could see the pendulum swinging the Western Border's way - especially if they get the alleged incentives offered to them and also Portland re-joining the fold which would get the number of clubs up to eight and ensure the WB stays around for a bit longer.

No travellers to speak of for the Mount teams . You might get a few ex loyal players coming back for a year if they can sniff a premiership.

Thinking the Danial Menzel mid year signing to Pathaway might be enough for Penola to say stuff it to the KNTFL.

Daniel Menzel is a former AFL player, how is he getting in, I thought there were restrictions on this

Still think it's a mistake for Hamilton and Portland not returning. Good on them but they haven't done much since leaving. Is it true Portland listened solely to the football players? The boys probably like going out in Warrnambool on a Saturday night too much.

Why is it a mistake? They left for a reason - essentially those reasons haven’t changed. The were a good side last year undefeated at half way and just lost too many quality players in one hit this year. Times have changed and travel is an issue but from limited experience the WB has declined to a greater degree than the HFN - much better pathways and junior set ups so it makes sense to stay

Read in the footy jumpers thread (someone’s doing a limestone coast league) that Penola will come into WB with either a strong MsE or knt club. And also robe apparently looking to join knt…

From the SEVoice

The Penola Football & Netball Club Executive has voted to rejoin the re-badged Western Border competition in 2024.
It is looking to its adult members, players and sponsors to support the move with a vote scheduled for McCorquindale Park at 6pm on August 31.
At least 67% of votes is needed for the move back to the re-badged Western Border to succeed.

My thought exactly.

Only 36% of the club want to be in that league, so they are likely to end up losing a few players to MSE & WB clubs as a result.
How did that get through? The club had so much to gain, they are not doing so well in the KNTFL, assume people living in the past voted against it
