The relationship between Port and the Sanfl is not good.

Yeah that just means that we get walked on. The sanfl treat us appallingly and we try to discuss fairer rules nicely. We won't even push the boundaries of the conditions. The club has been evaluating our participation in the sanfl but no decisions.

This is very difficult for the sanfl. They want the crows to beat Port because they lurv the crows. But because North lost to West the crows will be minor premiers if they win. That looks bad for the state based clubs and makes it harder to umpire the crows out of the finals because an AFL club can't win the state comp.

He's doing it all around the ground this kid - I don't even care that he has a girls name!

It raises an interesting question. In the AFL, he's looked solid in everything except rucking. There probably isn't a spot for him in the AFL side with Dixon and Lycett running around. But we should be resigning him for 3 years on so so money. Tell him the odds on regular games in 2023 is unlikely, but make known we are really keen on him and 2024 onwards should be his target to be a first 22 player. We have zero small forwards with Gray's retirement and Fantasia's knee being held together with drawing pins and gaffa tape. Play the 4 man quadrangle between Marshall, Georgiades, Finlayson, and Teakle and rotate them through a Westhoff style wing role. All 4 would offer more defensive pressure than a half cooked Gray. Also it could be worth throwing him down back in the SANFL for a game or 2 just to have a look. With his physical traits, there has to be an AFL footballer in there somewhere.

The relationship between Port and the Sanfl is not good.

What makes you think the relationship between Port and the VFL would be any better? The VFL is run by Victorians and I imagine the AFL, who have never done us any favours, have a big say in it's operations.

Anyone who thinks we would be able to move to the AFL overnight is kidding themselves, it just does not work like that. Supporters who think we will be anywhere near the VFL in 2023 are the same dreamers who were telling us Hinkley would be gone at the end of 2022 and that Clarkson would be our Coach in 2023.

We will be in the SANFL in 2023 and the only hope we have of moving away from the SANFL is for the AFL to get off it's arse and form an AFL Reserves competition.
