Looks like she can kick with both feet as well, which is a bit of rare talent in the AFLW, if she can do that with an AFL ball she could be very dangerous up front.
Whoever is on our recruiting team for Ireland is absolutely rocking it…..lm backing her in if O’ Shea and co picked it up she’ll be an amazing recruit….

Jas Ferguson has fractured her hand and will miss a few weeks.

Injury blow for key Kangaroos defender

The injury curse that has inflicted the Men's defense unit has claimed it's first member of the Women's unit. :(

In case I forget to say it later, Emma Kearney and Jasmine Garner are on track to play their 200th and 150th elite-level match this year, both in Round 8.

Included in my definition of elite:
  • AFLW
  • pre-2017 VWFL/VFLW
  • state games
  • WB/Melb pre-2017 games
Some would disagree about counting the so-called "exhibition" games, but branding aside, there's no logical argument to exclude those matches.

I assume you could list the games tallies of some other AFLW players still playing. Who is at the top of the list?

Using that criteria, Chiocci with 213 is at the top of the list of current AFLW players, given Phoebe McWilliams' retirement last year.

Even expanding it to include games from other reputable state leagues before 2017, I don't think there'd be a current player from outside Victoria in the top 3, but a bunch probably falling just short of Paxman on 180.

Ins: Libby Birch (Melbourne), Ella Slocombe, Georgia Stubs (draft), Zoe Savarirayan (inactive, ACL), Vikki Wall (TBC, inactive, rugby), Blaithin Bogue (rookie)

Outs: Ellie Gavalas (Western Bulldogs), Ailish Considine (retired), Hannah Bowey, Charli Granville, Cassidy Mailer, Sophia McCarthy (delisted)

Inactive: Nil

2024 active list: Libby Birch, Blaithin Bogue, Nicole Bresnehan, Jenna Bruton, Lucy Burke, Tess Craven, Bella Eddey, Jasmine Ferguson, Jasmine Garner, Taylah Gatt, Emma Kearney, Emma King, Mia King, Niamh Martin, Liz McGrath, Alice O'Loughlin, Erika O'Shea, Lulu Pullar, Tahlia Randall, Kim Rennie, Ash Riddell, Zoe Savarirayan, Eliza Shannon, Kate Shierlaw, Ella Slocombe, Amy Smith, Georgia Stubs, Ruby Tripodi, Vikki Wall, Sarah Wright

The Roos made just one move in the trade period, bringing in experienced key defender Birch. It's difficult to work out just where Birch fits into the settled backline, and there's going to be a very unlucky player who is pushed out, unless they're redeployed forward. Gavalas is a loss, but she had conceded her spot to Martin by the end of the season. Slocombe and Stubs will have time to develop; both are quick players who provide plenty of run-and-carry. Burke was delisted and re-drafted.

It's so weird how we've recruited so many great Irish players for our aflw side but only 1 for our aflm side and that was 7 years ago
