Agree money can be an enticement but players rarely seem to swap clubs because of that

That’s why having a war chest to throw at players doesn’t always amount to much. It’s all well and good for clubs to say they are going to hit the FA market but there’s no guarantees.

Surprisingly most contested ball winners demonstrate it somewhere early in their career.

Even Sydney's Josh Kennedy had a couple of 14 CP games while he was still at the Hawks.

The pattern seems to be that they throw up the occasional high contested possession game, then as they get older and more experienced they do it more often.
The AFL is full of hard nuts who can't seem to get contested possessions.
Gary Jr one of the exceptions, but he'd still have games ( as a small forward ), where he'd have 8 disposals , ALL contested.

Seems like this Giants squad could have some bargain buys if we go after the right players:

Madden could be a solid ruck option depending on how he progresses through this season. Derksen as a key defender at 194cm could be handy. Angwin as a wingman (although we probably don't need those types of players atm)
