I feel a bit for King. I once had an ACL strain. Stopped me for running for years. Other than minor scar tissue there was nothing on the scans.

Then a PT helped me by building muscles around the knee and I could then run for 10km plus straight with no pain.

Per the footage on ch7 news, you can see Max has an awkward knee movement during one of the drills. They then had a surgeon check it out as a precaution and the results came back all clear.
Whatever it is, at this stage of career he seems far too fragile to trust. The contract given to him is a major concern. Should have spent the money on Wilkie who doesn’t miss a game and is a star.

Sure, lets pretend like the list management team were sitting with a pile of cash and debating whether to give it all to King or Wilkie

There’s no pretending. It’s fact. This is what our List management team did. They gave Max King one of the longest contracts in AFL history. All while he was still contracted for another 3 years. He’s 25 in a month or so, he’s never kicked more than 52 goals in a season and he can’t, and doesn’t look like getting on the park.🙄

There is actually zero facts around Max's contract has anything to do with Wilkie and what we are paying him.

Also, him not kicking more than 52 goals playing as 22-23 year old is hardly the concern you are trying to make it out to be in that sentence.

It is a long contract, but where was it stated that he gets paid more than Wilkie? i never saw that written anywhere.
King also has triggers, so if he keeps not playing the contract will not be 8 years.

Forget Wilkie. Was just trying to make a point about how we are spending our money.

I’ll make it as simple as I can. The contract the club gave Max King, when he still had over 2 years to run on his current contract, and has been injury plagued, was ridiculous and bordering on negligent.

It’s about the only thing I’ve ever agreed with Kane Cornes on.

Other injuries to King are inevitable if he is going to keep limping/protecting his sore knee. There will be imbalances and other parts of the machine will give out under the additional strain. Very concerning that the club seems to have no idea what's actually wrong with his knee.

We desperately need King back in the team but I have no confidence that he plays more than a handful of games this season.

Just on the Max contract, it's probably for this exact situation that he's on the long term deal. Take the pressure off which he has been constantly feeling, just allow him to get his body right there's plenty of time. Whether you disagree with it is another thing no doubt it might be the wrong move but I think they're just backing him in long term and saying you're here for the next 8 years you're our best player and we back you in to get your body right.

Still plenty of time for him to impact even this year hopefully he gets this calf right and gets a good run at it, he'd be chomping at the bit to come in seeing how we're playing.
