Both he and Marnus are definitely in the spectrum - they are signalling to no one
Played with a guy who was . Did very similar things, very figgity and repeated movements.
Would call for new gloves every few overs and would get very fixated on the wind direction plus he had to count the fielders every over.

Was very annoying to bat with.
I reckon Marnus also copies Smith .

I reckon Konstas will follow the usual path of Australian bats that end up having a solid career. Make a series of low scores, get dropped and go back to shield to work on some things then come back a more well rounded player.
Wouldn't surprise me.
I'm not being critical but we need to be realistic .

I wonder how much that first innings was a bit of an insight into his ‘coping mechanisms’ for want of a better term, for when things are tough at the crease?

So he goes out there, Bumrah has him in trouble first over. His immediate default - and admittedly it worked at that stage - was to go completely unorthodox and not just be aggressive but totally off the wall with the shots he was playing.

So does he have another default mode to go into when he’s up against it (that’s a genuine question, I’ve not watched him) where he can leave everything and block a lot, or shelve certain shots until the ball softens etc etc? Or does he need to add some versatility/flexibility to his repertoire. Hes got ability so he could learn that on the run if he doesn’t already have those tools

We bat for minutes after tea and have an hour at them this afternoon. We’re gonna need to Accelerate the scoring a fair bit once we get the lead to 300 I reckon. 450 would be the total we want
450 is too much and we would need to get a big hurry on to get anywhere near that in 2 sessions. 350-400 should be the target because than at least India may look to try and win the match. 450 they could very easily shut up shop if they lose an early wicket or two and play out time. They don't need to win they just need to avoid losing. Setting them a huge target like 450 is something you would do if your 2-1 in the series not all square.

300-350 would be a tough chase on a last day pitch.

I’d want more than “tough” nowadays scores have gone up massively why give them a generous declaration

350 is 4 runs an over all day. Still a difficult ask and alot would need to go right for you to pull it off.

Would want more than that but not declaring at all today bat all day
