In an alternate universe where Eagles beating the Dogs turns out to be the “meaningless win” that costs them the wooden spoon, I’d imagine Colby McKercher or whoever they picked instead would be settling in as a support act watching their premiership winning veterans pull them to wins, while Harley can’t do enough on his own to change our fortunes and we are exactly where we are. Except we’d also have tanking and an AFL investigation and fines and coach suspensions to deal with. If you can’t imagine things being worse, they absolutely could be.

As Clarko pointed out, tanking happens to be agin the rules. Those who think we goofed by not throwing that game have to implicitly believe that no-one would have noticed.

Watching the Giants games currently, one thing patently obvious, apart from their obvious talent levels, is that for almost any particular stage of any Q, whether they have the ball, the oppo does, or it is in dispute, nearly every player is moving, ranging from either jogging to sprinting, but you rarely see anyone stationary, hands on hips etc, this not talent based, but mostly effort and coaching, we however ....................................................

at least we can watch the west coast game with no #9 running around thinking “what could’ve been”. soo glad we we won that game against the suns, it’s really turned our culture around. no more getting pumped by 70 plus points anymore! and a breakout game for youngsters like turner, corr and tucker.
