What a win. Bloody hell. Read the preview thread for the consensus mood, with a Yeo-less midfield against this Dees ruck/midfield combo, after last week. What a response.

Unlucky AFL. Send more next time.

Positives
  • Harley Reid. They're not going to pick him. Go on, pick him. Go on. There's no words for what this bloke does.
  • Junktime Jake leads the league in goals. Wouldn't be on any other list.
  • McGovern's kicking was surgical, marking immense, leadership top tier. Bloody hell, long to the right seems like generations ago.
  • Eagles played with flare and dash, but also smothered them with some incisive kick-mark. Field kicking was unreal from so many players. Bought ourselves little breaks, controlled the field position. Wow.
  • Ginbey statement game, first half in particular.
  • Hats off to Simmo. This was so obviously a game Max Gawn was going to decide, and he just...didn't. By the same token, Sheed to Clayton was a wild decision, and it paid off. Unreal.
  • Cole, Hough, Witherden tremendous.
  • Work rate from Cripps, Darling (with some reward, finally) immense.
  • Scores from turnovers. Holy shit. 70-14. Be real.

Negatives
  • Got Covid at the Eagles/Pies game last weekend so I missed this live. The things we do for love.

Biggest positive for me was our pressure.
Particularly Jack Darling, who as well as kicking three goals, and handing the last to Cripps, laid 12 tackles.
That's massive and should be absolutely commended.
