Picola & District Discussion 2022

Believe the league , without board or staff , on were notified on grand final day of proposed meeting after they notified Tocumwal that they knew the meeting was occurring .
Interesting that the notice of meeting stated , or words to the affect , that they were aware that there were things in the affiliation agreement that the league wouldn’t agree to yet the league hadn’t received a proposed agreement for ?
Likewise that clubs were allegedly called by same individual the day of the league meeting last week to discuss a meeting @ Toc this week ‘ with the backing of the AFL ‘. ???????
Hopefully all will be revealed soon including the reason tocumwal were suspended in the first place. Can anyone tell me the the reasoning behind the PDFL not wanting to be affiliated.

As the article says, the league are seeking more autonomy over salary cap and player points.

Looks like AFLV are going to lure some clubs out of the PDFNL with the affiliation card. Where those clubs end up if they do come out of the league is anyone's guess.

Having seen a copy of the affiliation agreement before, you would need clarification on a few issues before signing. In the agreement there is one point where, in effect, if a supporter of a club writes a letter to the editor of a newspaper with a negative spin on an issue or game, AFLV has the power to sanction the league and/or the club for the actions of the supporter!

I think you’ll find that there will be a stumbling block with that .

Apparently wanted to meet with other presidents of the league with out a certain person in attendance and it didn’t go down to well. I may be wrong on that front but that’s the info I have heard around the area
I think there might be a little more to it then that from what I’m hearing
chippy you seem to ask a lot of questions you’ve already provided the answer to and seemingly know the answer to ???

Objective of the Community Club Sustainability Program and PPS Policy

The Community Club Sustainability Program (CCSP) Advisory Panel believes that equalisation of community football competitions is vital for community football.

Even and fair competitions lead to interest, which leads to bigger crowds, which leads to stronger clubs and competitions. Even competitions allow supporters and club volunteers the chance to turn up on any given match day with the knowledge that the outcome of the game is uncertain and that their team is a chance of winning. This mindset motivates people to become and remain engaged with their community club and provides rewards and recognition to all those that assist in putting a team out on the field.

The philosophy of competition equalisation is accepted in sports all around the world. Professional sporting bodies have accepted practices such as drafts, salary caps, and the like in order to help competitions ensure competitiveness and club sustainability.

The objectives of the state PPS Policy are as follows, to:

1. support equalization of community football Competitions;

2. ensure teams fielded in the Competitions are strong and as equally matched as possible;

3. provide the best opportunities for players to develop and display their skills;

4. provide opportunities to compete at a community level within an orderly and fair system;

5. enable team spirit and public support;

6. encourage community and corporate sponsorships of Community Clubs;

7. reduce the inflationary nature of player payments to assist clubs survive financially and reduce financial burden/stress on Clubs;

8. promote player loyalty and junior development;

9. support the role volunteers undertake in managing their Clubs by;
  • minimising the need to fundraise for player payments
  • providing a more competitive environment on field, that encourages more volunteers to support at Club
level
- providing incentive to spend more time and effort in the development of football, a welcoming Club
environment and growing the game within the local community.

This PPS Policy sets out a framework of rules and guiding principles in relation to a player points system which should be adopted by Community Clubs in order to achieve the above objectives.

If this policy is adopted by Metropolitan Leagues and Region Commissions, they will need to amend their relevant by laws to include all relevant provisions under this PPS Policy.

Shepp News has an update article.

If Tocumwal's exile was not because of the meeting, then what is the reason?

The Facebook posts attached to the post hinted at a potential Murray FL Division 2 for any clubs that moved out of the PDFNL. Given the number of teams mentioned in the above posts, maybe that is not an impossibility?

The last time clubs left the PDFNL they found out how hard it can be .
Tungamah have openly admitted they were on the verge of collapse .
Katandra had severely depleted junior sides , football and netball .
Shepp East who the Picola league went into bat for regarding their u12’s being removed , we’re once a powerhouse particularly in their juniors, now have no 3rds .
Dookie now don’t have 4ths .
IIRC of the bottom 4 MFL sides in the seniors last season 3 were in the top 4 of the u17’s , Echuca United , Rumba , Finley .
Players from all 3 clubs have reasonably regularly joined PDFNL clubs something you would think is less likely if playing in same comp.

Roar

Is it true that part of the AFL agreement has a rainfall clause. Whereas if 25mm falls Friday night, Saturday games are cancelled.

I wish to clarify Roar, this isn’t an attempt at a piss take. It is a genuine question

So will this lead to 2 different forms of footy, major league clubs will take this with a grain of salt, metro clubs will continue to spend, unless it starts in the metro clubs and your Alburys and Wangaratta join it is a waste of time, needs to be across the state.

Tocumwal always been a pretty proud club, not sure why there's the need for the suspension, I'd think it makes things worse, isn't it better for everyone to be talking together and being proactive
