Yep, you're right about white wine. Should be served chilled but not cold. Plenty of people these days are drinking chilled red wine, although you want to avoid doing that with highly tannic reds(Cab sauv, Malbec and Italian reds, for example), because that's all you get when you drink it cold. Needs some warmth for the other flavours to come into play.

On the beer front, you're 'supposed' to dump it into a glass, so the gas disperses. I did this at a lunch a couple of weeks ago and copped s**t for it but unlike many European beers(English/Irish especially), Australian beer is massively carbonated. All that gas disperses in your stomach if you don't do it in the glass, so when you eat something, it gets agitated.

A lightly chilled Beaujolais (or gamay if you’re drinking an Australian bottle) is magnificent drinking in the spring/summer period when you wouldn’t normally expect to be drinking red.

Talking of Cripps - the one we have on our list - Jamie a couple of days ago shed some light on abuse he received because of his brain-fade in the Essendon game and wanted to remind those trolling him that 'it's just footy, guys' - and he copped a serve for that, too, from the keyboard warriors.

With things like this happening with unfortunate regularity recently, maybe some of us also need to remind themselves that it's just a game and no matter what happens on the AFL field that it's just for our entertainment and not life or death (apologies for the phrasing). We all mocked Cam McCarthy on BigFooty when he spudded it up, and fair enough, that's part of the nature of sport, but I hope none of us thought it was also our place to berate him for that if they ran into him in the supermarket - however I know that some fans (Freo, WC or otherwise) definitely would have. Anyway, just my random musing on this news...it's just footy, guys. Things like this give everyone some perspective hopefully.

Mattas phillipou was dropped after his horrid start to the season . After looking like both a forward and a mid in his first season he looks like neither .

He also still hasn't signed a contract extension and looks like playing for the crows next year at this rate

In seriousness, the league has had a problem for a long time in that 2-3 teams are totally unwatchable each season. And one of those is always North Melbourne.

They simply cannot bring in Tassie without folding/merging North. Flat broke, parroting a line of “no we’re not we make profit”, ignoring the fact that that profit comes from an expansion side calibre financial handout from the AFL (paid for by us) and the payments from Tassie, which will soon disappear.

Off their own merit? Not a pot to piss in, and now 1-29 in their last 30, with four consecutive bottom two finishes (and almost certainly a fifth to come).

They have to ******* go. Talent pool is too thin, too many teams in Vic, if the league started today they would not even be a consideration. 20 teams is ****ed, 20 teams and letting North continue to leech off of the comp is resignation worthy.
