Richmond desperate to get funds while the government hands funds to Geelong on a silver platter.
Geelong make me sick to the guts that cheat club.
Shocking's and Chris Scott's rule changes.
Weazels state of the game.
GAGF
Would be as simple as Geelong having someone smart and clued in on how to present a top submission for funding.
Make a good case, the govt will come to the party, especially this Victorian one that has the money spent before they even collect your taxes.

It is not too late to pull out of the proposed redevelopment plan.
The best two oval redevelopment projects of recent years are the Junction Oval and Arden Street.
The former is best.
They retained the two heritage stands and built a new complex.
To avoid congestion, AFLW can lease facilities at a suburban footy field.
On-field success has nothing to do with a new edifice.
As Dimma always says, footy is a performance based industry.
Practical results, not deluded blueprints.
Have not read one scintilla of the propaganda they mailed out.
Have a proviso in the contract to extract from the mess.
That’s not progress

we gonna demolish the glorious iconic stand and spend 100mil so the women's team has state of the art facilities for their 5 games a year and w***ers can take selfies on the kitsch stairway
What’s wrong with the women having state of the art facilities. Everyone at the club should. Just wish the government would help out a little more.

You know that’s not the only reason for the development , you’re better than that

the government is not serious about womans sport if they dont want to give the rfc money

meanwhile geelol farts and the government bottles it up in a bottle and takes it home for later

So you missed the bit about the men's teams getting state of the art facilities, re-alignment of the oval to the same size as the MCG, multi level underground car park, facilities for the wheelchair team, facilities for the Bachar Houli foundation and the Korin Gamadji inst and ground crowd capacity up to 8000 among other upgrades. :drunk:

Lakeside oval good example also, there is plenty of really creative and smart design out there.

BUT it's the wrong time for even my preferred plan to go ahead.

This has gone from 65 million to now a 100 million; it could end up at 150 million at that rate of inflation, and everyone is saying get used to inflation where it is.

At the same time, the club is in a contraction phase, we suck hard on field, very good candidates for the wooden spoon currently. And we all know that could last for years. Members will stick fat, you hope we maintain 100k, but our crowds are already down, and revenues will follow.

This redevelopment was a great idea around 2018, but everything is going in the wrong direction currently.

RFC would be prudent to postpone this whole endeavour until it makes financial/operational sense.

There is no shame in pressing 'pause', Vic gov. has just done exactly that on major infrastructure projects for some of the reasons I have mentioned above. This is not the right time for ambitious spending projects, to say the very least!

Two words: Legend's Stand....brick by brick we could bury the club.

WHATS IN IT FOR MEEEEEEEEEEE???????? FFS!!!

DON'T CHIP IN IF YOU FEEL THAT WAY BUT DON'T EXPECT ME TO MOVE OUT OF MY SEAT IN THE NEW JACK DYER STAND FOR YOU!!!

OH YEAH, DON'T MOAN ABOUT OUR PERFORMANCE IF WE DON'T GET UP TO DATE TRAINING FACILITIES EITHER
"My seat"? Not everyone is in a position to afford a seat, let alone a $200 brick. It's not just about how they might "feel" about deciding to chip in if they can't and dont have the choice. 45% of the population live paycheck to paycheck.

And why are you YELLING at those who may be less fortunate or have different piorities?

Massive Boomer and privilege vibes.

Dissapointing.

It's not about them, but why have you made it about you by validating your needs over other's needs or capabilities? Some sort of flex?

We Boomers have a sense of entitlement...a sense of reward...for our hard earned...nothing more nothing less!!!!

What you can't chip in $1.00, if you bother reading the pamphlet you can donate any amount you like. All I've seen here is mostly bitching about what sort of recognition you get for donating pfft

Who gives a s**t about the "recognition" don't whinge when we out grow PRO or end up behind because of the oval size and facilities
So angry.....
Threats to leave Richmond, won't ever happen, just like the Victorian Government threatening Melbourne Airport that they will build a train line to Avalon Airport.

Yes, a new exorbitant, now extortionately priced, building is no guarantee of on-field performance and success.
Quite the reverse.
No shame in reneging on the contract, like Vic & Qld govts have done.
In reality, it is a perfect storm of lacklustre performance, declining attendances, declining memberships, declining gate revenues, while imposing a new phenomenal cost outlay.

scats taking money from cancer centres for a scoreboard when their current one is perfectly fine

if they had an inch of integrity theyd announce a presser saying they will donate the money back to hospitals

Brick by brick the jack dyer stand crumbles to the ground as we pause on our future

Lol the David Mandie building will crumble before the Jack Dyer Stand!

The JDS is a literal brick s-house!

It’s a tank of a thing. I love how it sits low and bottom-heavy, immovable.

It’s been through a bit, needs the possum poo cleaned out and a re-roofing, but it’s still holding strong in old Richmond town - a symboL/metaphor for our club!

Part of the reason that the stand needs to go is to allow the ground to be enlarged to MCG dimensions, it doesn't happen if the stand remains and we then build another complex beside it.

Secondly which suburban ground is going to have full facilities that allows the AFLW team to not only train on field but to also do the off field stuff like recovery and gym work. Add to that why should they train at a ground that isn't the one that they'll play their home games on?

Finally the new facilities will allow the club to best utilize available space not just for on field preparation but also for off field preparation while also improving the fan experience when attending games at Punt Road.

This project isn't just for the AFL program, but for the whole club to benefit and achieve success at all levels.
