They can sell there achievements when they address the crushing housing crisis and people dealing with the inflationary cost of living pressures . These are the things that matter, not if you can keep the books balanced

Horrific net migration figures coming out for February with another 100,000 immigrants arriving against a backdrop of catastrophic inflation, cost of living and housing shortages and having the biggest drop in living standards of OECD countries in 2023.

Did you actually read the link or were you just a little economical with the truth?

Yer inflation and the unemployment figures are still falling….
Businesses are still crying for skilled workers!!
Hospitality businesses reducing opening hours because they can’t fill shifts…. And your answer is the cut immigration?

We can have excessive immigration impacting on rent etc and the problems you flag. Just means we are not targeting our immigration against what we actually need so cut unskilled immigration and update the skilled list more regularly. Plus all the other things we need to do like build more social housing, increase training etc

Hah??? We aren’t getting flooded with unskilled immigrants…. Unless you want to include students as unskilled, who contribute billions to the economy and are filling most of the Hospitality jobs….

We have humanitarian migration, family reunions, and a lot of students whose skills don't align with what we need and are using our unis as a pathway to residency (which the ALP is trying to fix), we also have a large underemployment problem. There are spots to trim the migration account including ensuring that temporary visa holders like students leave on completion of studies unless they are now trained in a skillset we need when they graduate. Just making sure students leave on completion will help.

Anyway if word gets out the govt is closing rorts like student visas, that those who have approval won’t rush to get here in case it tightens more? Also uni year starts in Feb.

Judge the current govt after their reforms run through the system

None of them are in Unions, except possibly the SDA who are the most self-interested of the lot. Very few are rich or expect to inherit anything. The only people who join political parties and thus the political class now, are only in it for themselves.

The fact young people recognise this so early gives me great hope of moving away from the 2-party entrenched system.

Thank Christ Albanese is in charge when the Middle East is blowing up. If Dutton were in power, we'd have a bunch of our best assets exposed to terror attacks and a potential war in which we have no strategic interest. Best to stay well clear of this. Neither side is worth fighting and dying for.

Nothing will change, not in our lifetimes.

The self interest will get worse and worse and worse. Politics is a sham but the way it is now is the way it's staying for a very long time

Honestly surprised only 97% of responders had little trust in government. How could anyone with a straight face say even their fav pollie is genuinely there for the greater good?!

I'd say one of the 3 levels needs to go. State or Council, get rid of one. Start there and we can start to overhaul the uselessness of politics in this country

It’s civil war

It doesn’t say that and reasonably, you would expect a lag

So it doesn’t say he will lower the cost of living and the lag period should be??? Maybe until 2025 when the power bills will be $275 than the levels at the last election?

Wage growth is starting to climb back up after the Libs led it into free-fall with a policy of inflationary pressures mixed with wage suppression.

You'll note that wages grow a lot faster under the ALP than the LNP. In fact, under 9 years of the LNP, real wages declined overall, despite a resources and economic boom. Unfortunately the LNP didn't want wage-earners to share any of that boom-time. It all went to corporate profits.

Our birthrate is declining year on year. Who's going to comprise the workforce to support an aging population?

I'm shocked you have such a narrow view though.
Shocked, I tells ya.
