North supporters aren’t seriously patting themselves on their the back with regards to how much young talent their clubs assembled are they?
We are, and you'll do nothing about it.

That d be like being on welfare and getting a government grant for 10k and all of sudden claiming how shrewd you are
McKercher, Sheezel, Duursma and Wardlaw were not obtained through priority picks.

Logue, Tucker, Will Dawson and Hardeman were.

seeing as though this is a thread about North's priority picks, can we just pin this post with the players, along with the actual picks so that we're not going around in circles?

2023: Pick 29
2023: Pick 32
2023: Pick 48(?)
2024: Pick 19*
2024: Pick 20*

I know this is slightly off topic... Well sort of.

Since Tarryn Thomas has been booted out of your club. Does that mean North melbourne get a mid season draft pick because of it?
Before the verdict was handed down with regards to Tarryn, we left the final spot on the list open, but then signed Tyler Sellers on the last day of the SSP. I suspect this was done knowing Tarryn would be sacked shortly after the SSP ended. I think Tarryn is technically still on our list, but you can move a player to the inactive list if they've retired (or been sacked in this case), which makes room for an MSD selection.

The concessions that they had to trade certainly are not helping them during games atm.
The furore over NM getting this type of assistance was well and truly overstated.

please sir can i have some more .gif

honestly don't know what the solution is

too many young players

old players disinterested

can't recruit good free agents because no one wants to come

how do you fix that?

Trade out a couple of the dozen young midfielders for some established key position players that can provide leadership and have experience winning.
All well and good if clubs could trade out players against their will. There aren't many putting their hands up to come across to a bottom side.

As deflating as today was + the previous weeks - we've played a lot of strong sides whilst trying to play somewhat positive football.

Next week's a big one

Poor drafting. They were gifted pick 3 and what did they do with it? Grab another midfielder.. They already had plenty of them.. They should of traded it for two top 10 picks for a couple of KPD
Yerp - its reasons like this no one has sympathy for them.
Their list management has been diabolical.
Any average football observer could’ve done a better job recruiting over the last few years with the gifts they’ve been given

Terrible drafting. Embarrassing

Some of our players are really wasting their talent at North & will never play to their full potential at North.

So sad and depressing.

That's fine in theory, but who exactly would be good that they could get without ridiculously overpaying for?

I mean they have had to overpay to get Coleman-Jones, Dylan Stephens level players on long contracts.

Nothing North have done or could have done in the last few drafts would have had almost any impact in what they are dishing up at the moment.

This is the price they pay for the decisions they made towards the end of the Brad Scott era.

Can't do anything now other than be patient.

Duursma? Hes a half forward and they did use one of their picks on a defender

Priority picks do not make a terrible side competitive in the short term. They are a medium/long term fix. 3-5 years. If you pick the right player.
Its kind of laughable that we are sitting here saying "oh yeah they really needed them because look how bad they still are" when actually the solution wasn't suitable for the problem they had.
What they should have been given is priority picks that they had to trade for mature players (100+ games or 25+) or else they lapsed. That might have actually made them competitive.

Yep. Draft picks are a stupid way of trying to get an uncompetitive team to be competitive. Give them a heap of extra money and cap space to poach.
