See post #61 for how he says it. Maybe like George Grljusich told Anna Kournikova with her surname, he's saying it incorrectly. ;)

I’ve completely changed the pronunciation of my names while in the US. I just adopted how people read them. I didn’t want to complicate things.

I can totally understand it. I’m curious on how he pronounces “Moraes”. Still, in Brazil, he will be called “Christian More-Eyes”. 😉

P.S.: There’s a Spanish equivalent. It is “Morales”.

I’ve heard him saying “more-eyes”…

Watched his highlights properly yesterday and enjoyed his intensity, running and attack on the ball. Covres huge ground and can kick goals. Is a definite chance to debut next year with that running power.
One thing stands out to me is he’s good overhead.
Looks strong considering he’s no man mountain.

Great reaction to being drafted by Port.

The worst reaction ever was a 17 yo Josh Carr who looked like he’d been drafted to fight in Vietnam. Funny thing is he has voluntarily come back to the club 3 times since and will probably end up the club’s first AFL Premiership player and Coach.

Love this from Christian go well mate and the fans will love you

"It’s a long night but to go to such a great club like Port, some of my heroes play there, and they’ve got such a great fanbase. Their fans really care and that’s probably the thing I most wanted in wherever I went, just a fan base that cares and a club that wants to win and cares."

Sounds like he's heard about the old Port.

Can really see the Boak comparison in terms of hard running ability. Also noted the desire he has to keep the ball moving quickly. Yes, that's largely game plan based, however from the highlights, he shows the smarts to make the right play in that situation, and to use that hard running to really run the lines and create those link ups while under pressure. This to me, makes me feel he could work well in our current on ball brigade around stoppages.
Agree re desire to move the ball on quickly which is a skill that is underrated imo. Very positive player.

What a quality pick up that was. If only we had a few more current players with his aggressive win at all cost attitude & work ethic.

Fischer McAsee was a solid reaction.

There’s a humility and self-deprecating, even self-critical nature to Moraes that is already endearing. It sounds like he is a fairly harsh and honest judge of himself. I’ve seen three interviews - two with him and one with Parker - where he has stated that he was disappointed in his 2024 season. His numbers and highlights still look good on the surface but it sounds like he had some inconsistent form and quieter games through the middle of the year, including in the U18 carnival. Reckon he puts a lot of pressure on himself which may make him too nervous to perform at his best sometimes. If we can get that balance right and turn his self-critical nature into a hard work ethic and drive to improve, but also instil confidence in himself, he may be able to become a really top-line player.

It sounds like he could very much be an option on a wing, which gives us three now in Burgoyne, Lorenz and Moraes.
