It’s was more of a self-screwing. Chad wouldn’t have been dropping regulation chest marks in front of goal or blowing up within 5 minutes of the 2020 PF that’s for sure.

About as good as Wingard is going for Hawthorn. We got more games out of Duursma than Hawthorn got with Wingard, and then we traded him to Essendon for BZT plus loose change and he ended up 7th in our best and fairest last year.

35 was also used to trade up from 6 to 5, which helped secure our dual All Australian, and best and fairest winning captain.

We've also got over 100 games out of Ryan Burton, who i think is better than the spud he is made out to be on here.

We got far more out of that trade than what we gave up.

**** me I never really understood the whole thing but I just went and looked at the 2018 trade period, there was a world where we could've kept Wingard and gotten Rozee and Butters.......

Cool story. Except that if still good in 2020 Chad Wingard had been playing for us in the 2020 prelim rather than Xavier 'dropped the cup' Duursma or injured yet again Ryan Burton, we very easily could've won that flag.

Ah yes cool story indeed, i forgot how clutch Wingard had become by that stage. His efforts with just over a minute to go in extra time of the 2017 elimination final where not once but twice he had it in space on the wing only to pin point his passes directly to West Coast players. Pretty sure he repeated the dose in the loss to them the following year after the siren.

Thought the inclusion as an emergency made perfect sense.

Richards was a late withdrawal. But if he plays, then the emergency doesn’t. So the emergency wouldn’t have played AFL or SANFL. Would you rather Lorenz or Lai or whoever having a trip to Sydney and not playing any footy? Or would you prefer the Rat flying to Sydney to not play but being versatile enough and physically and mentally ready to play if needed?

Now he played a stinker and should only ever be an emergency in a situation like the above.

Also, as much as I didn’t want the Rat and hated him at the crows, he wears the prison bars now. He’s one of us. Get around the guy.

Check my past posts. I’ve consistently said Atkins has been Bog for our SANFL side and understanding of him being around the AFL side. The vitriol directed towards him on the board has been bad and should stop.

There is no way of knowing if that would've made any difference. Duursma had a decent year and played very good in that prelim but made one mistake dropping a mark in wet conditions in a prelim as a 19 year old. And as i mentioned earlier Wingard made two crucial mistakes as a senior player on a perfect night for footy with a minute left in extra time of the 2017 elimination final.
