He was also our hardest outside runner who we tried to put 20kgs on and turn him into a centre square mid. I felt he lost his running capacity and was beaten up a bit, never recovering. Im all for development and progression in players, but he could have been a lean midfielder like Francou or Lappin.

Duursma had/has little hurt factor with his kcking, lots of high loopy kicks that take ages to get to their target. I think his absolute ceiling would be Ed Langdon (which would be a solid career) but he's proven to be a very replaceable player especially as he tends to be quite injury prone.

If he was drafted alone the fuss wouldn’t have been so much.

Because he was with Butters and Rozee it was a better story with 3.
