No changes Simmo, we're going well.

It's not worth giving Burgeil, Hall, or Trew a run at this stage, there's too much at stake to risk it.

Is gonna be tough with no Sheed. The intangibles and experience he's been bringing to the side will be missed.

The Ryan in the middle experiment went as expected - was worth a go after thinking about it for 6 years, but best put him back into the forward line cos he's not a mid.

Throw Gaff back into the midfield to beat them up around the contest. Him and Culley will also help counter the Bombers run and spread.

I’m curious to see what they do with the centre bounces in the absence of Kelly, Reid and Sheed.

Yeo, Ginbey and Culley are the only real specialists in the side and they’re very one-paced. Ryan and Petch spent time in there against North and probably will again, but we need more cover than that. Do we see a Hall debut or a Trew recall? Does Chesser get a run in the guts? Or Duggan? Do we give someone a tagging job on Merrett and if so, who?
Ryan added something last game when he went in there. Brockman should get a chance and Hall has to play with Sheed out.

Great usage of sarcasm!

The need for speed. Hunt and Brockman will be welcome returners.
JJ for swervability.
Forwardline is stacked. Just need supply?
Problem often is midfield. If oppo sits on Yeo, midfield looks ordinary.
Ginbey always improving, Culley still blowing out rust. Trew and Hall relatively inexperienced. The only one there with pace is Ginbey.(and Chesser)
Good to fold Ryan and Brockman through the guts, for a spark...
Welcome back Oscar.
Need a team effort to cover the midfield.

Having a crack at this afternoon’s announcement.

In: Hunt, Allen, Brockman, Rotham, Hall
Out: Sheed (“injured”), Hutchinson

B: Cole, Barrass, Hough
HB: Duggan, McGovern, Witherden
C: Chesser, Yeo, Hunt
Hf: Cripps, Darling, Waterman
F: Ryan, Allen, Williams
R: Flynn, Ginbey, Gaff
I: Hedwards, Rotham, Petch, Jones, Culley, Maric, Brockman, Hall

Final changes Hunt for Sheed, Allen for Hutchinson, Brockman for Maric (with Jones dropping to sub). Maric to carry the drinks, Rotham and Hall to play WAFL.

Yes this will mean we have a gigantic forward line. Yes it will also mean Gaff spends time in the middle. No I won’t be happy about any of this either.

Bit of match sim drill at training today looked to be just those in consideration for weekend, as a bunch went to 2nd oval and didnt participate including Trew, Hall and Johnston so none of these looking likely.
Those that didnt play last game but were involved in drill; Allen, Hunt, Brockman and Rotham
No sign of Kelly or Sheed at all
Based on that, maybe the following;
Out - Sheed, Hutchinson, Jones
In - Allen, Hunt, Brockman
Emg - Rotham, Jones, Hutchinson, Trew/Hall?
I'd like Hutchinson as the 3rd tall instead of Darling, seems a bit more dynamic, but very unlikely MC even consider.

Why do people act like playing in the WAFL is some form of cure all for injury and form management? Allen would have been set for the post bye game weeks in advance.

People think you can't reinjure yourself in WAFL or something

WAFL is full contact and higher pressure. And AFL is a significant step up again.

You can manage a players loads coming back through the WAFL and the player gets match fitness and touch.

Bring them straight in managing loads is a handicap to the side. The team doesnt suffer from a player taking a premiership game to get bacjk up to speed and touch.

If I had a dollar for every post over the years when after the fact we post "why did they come straight back in they needed a run in the WAFL first."

It's Maric or Darling. But likely Maric unless Oscar seconds ruck.

There is a scenario where Maric and Darling and Oscar stays but that assumes Maric is HBF/Wing. Which is likely given Maric shift in training to wing

Maric 196cm forward.........being played as a wing.

By the same token, if only I had a dollar for every post that said "they could have used a few more weeks in the WAFL before coming back".

Some players just take a few games of AFL footy to get back to the level, regardless of how much time they spend in the reserves.

Noticed in the training photos today on Eagles social media that Gaff and Culley were both in the B Side yellow jerseys.

Jones named on the wing so holds his spot as does Maric who’s named in a forward pocket

Hunt is back to add much needed pace

Williams named on the interchange but would be expected to play

One of Edwards or Rotham to take the second I/C spot

Chesser I’d expect plays

Leaves the final bench spot and the sub to come from Gaff, Culley, Hutchinson or Brockman.
