He was #7 in possessions and #6 in metres gained. Pretty decent 'average' game. And conveniently ignoring his defensive jobs. It's fine if you need one of your team's players to shit on but at least admit it to yourself.

I'd rather have Nank in the team than Milera but I'd rather have Nank in the team than a few players. Not really anyone else in the 2's I'd bring in ahead of Milera at this point. Of course that can change but that should be the case for everyone. Most didn't want Peatling dropped after his fumbly 13 touches against Essendon and that worked out ok.

So you agree that Nank should be in for Milera. Lot of words and accusations to be in agreeance. I guess some posters just have an inbuilt need to baselessly label others. At least you can admit that to yourself.

Most wanted Peatling to remain in the team. There were only 1-2 posters who called for him to he subbed or dropped.

Milera was not in the best players against Essendon. Had a good game, but all played well. His form line has been poorer than Nankervis pre-season or last season.

Bit of projecting...

Which game are you referring to? I never said he was average against Essendon, I’m positive though you’re not quoting his 9 possession game against North.

And you’re full of crap, I don’t want a whipping boy. I wanted Nank before Milera. Nank deserved his spot and wasn’t awarded a spot based on experience and reputation. Nank was one of our best against Brisbane and should not have been dropped for Milera. Mileras games against Saints and North support that.

I’ve actually been a fan of Milera during his career, feel free to to find posts where I’ve bagged him. But in this instance the younger in form player who deserved his spot was dumped for him when he hadn’t played for a year, was coming off injury and who did not have a strong preseason. If you’re ok with that, kudos to you, but it makes zero sense if selection integrity is something you think is important.

So who do you want Nank in ahead of?

My tip is
Out: Rachele - In: Draper (to starting HF)
Out: Sholl - In: Nankervis (selection integrity)
Out: Text (rest) - In: Murphy to sub

I don't like it, but I think it would be smart to give Tex a rest and give him the 11 days off so he can go big at Gather Round. Personally I haven't loved Sholl's start of the year, so after Saturday reckon Nank deserves a shot and I think Draper did enough in that high half forward role when he replaced Rachele to be promoted to the first 18. We know Nicks loves Murphy so there's a high chance he comes in after Saturday's game.

What are your sources please?
From Virgin Air: "You will travel roughly 1,600 kilometres on your flight with Virgin Australia from Adelaide to Gold Coast.".
Qantas: "The direct flight time from Adelaide to the Gold Coast is approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes."
Virgin: "... usually 2 hours and 20 minutes".
Willyweather predicts light SSW ==> ESE (not a head or tail wind).

Fair point, but after so many seasons Tex'd have his pre- and post-flight routines down pat.
Another poster (you?) suggested resting Tex and bring in a smaller player to enable more small forward/mids rotations. Not the worst idea, imo.

What worries me more (and will affect the whole team, not just Tex) is playing after predicted showers in slippery, hot/humid conditions, then a 5-day break only, before Geelong.
Its more about the time, than the distance. I was looking at the road length it seems, rather than the flight path. Google was my source :rainbow:

I am sure Tex and the entire team will be fine, but age takes its toll on everyone so we should be conservative with him IMHO.

Rachele. We don't have a like for like for him.

You use a lot of words to say nothing.

Before Rank was injured, who did you want Nank in for?

That should be short enough for you.
I would've had him ahead of Sholl. I appreciate his gut running and consistently providing an option but think he's a liability at times given this is a contact sport and he rarely damages with his touches.

Everyone conveniently forgetting Milera was one of our best against the Bombers. Yes he had a bad day against North with ball in hand but kept Hansen Jnr - who had been in good form - quiet to the point he got subbed out.

Understand he's the new whipping boy but the need for a whipping boy among a club's supporters would be a fascinating group think psychology study.
So who out of Milera and Nankervis do you think offers the most to the Adelaide Crows both now and into the future considering they are competing for the same spot and role?

I think it was a gamble selecting him in the first place given how good Nankervis has been. Milera really needed to come into the team breathing fire and he has not done that. We cannot afford to carry players over the next few weeks and I think we are doing that with Milera currently. To me he needs to go back and find rhythm, lets not forget he has not played a ton of football in the last few years...

Even after his strong year last year? Hmm sees you have a whipping boy
Strong start? Was it his 9 touches at the weekend or host of missed tackles that you liked? At least Milera cut a dangerous opposition out of the game.

EDIT: Misread your post but also not selecting fringe players on last season's form. We have depth and competition for spots that we didn't have last year.

This is where I think the argument has become unnecessarily black and white - I personally don't think it's an either or. Nank is pretty good at half back but feel he's a better wingman - I'm sure you also remember him as a half forward for Sandy Dragons. Ideally I'd bring him as a wing and have Oscar Ryan as next man up across half back.

The issue Captain is when you come out here having a go at posters for having a “whipping” boy when there are legitimate queries over a players selection, then you admit that you would have played Nank over Milera then out yourself has having your own whipping boy, it’s fair to say not only do you come off as a self righteous flog, but a hypocrite as well.

You also clearly have comprehension issues. Last year isn’t the same as last game.

If they are toying with resting Tex this week, thinking on it, i would go the following changes

Nank for Milera
Pedlar or Taylor for Rachele
Bond for Walker.

Draper comes into the side for the Rachele role with either Pedlar or Taylor being sub. Nank to half back and Bond a run with role. Curtin can assume the roaming 3rd tall role. I think the extra runner is important especially if its warm and humid with the ball potentially being slippery.

And I'm sure you remember Milera as a half forward at Central's?

Don't know how close you watch Charlie Edwards but he's spent the preseason training off half back and has impressed so he might be entering that discussion in the coming weeks.

I Googled 2.5hr flight effects, got
"A 2.5-hour flight can cause temporary effects like
1) dehydration,
2) reduced oxygen levels [potentially causing fatigue and headaches], and
3) potential digestive discomfort [from trapped gases, apparently; would = later fartage :grimacing: ]".
How "temporary" was not specified.
No doubt the Club's aware of those, especially the first 2 which could obviously cause reduced performance on a Match Day. One would hope they'd have an action plan for all of them.

Our speculation is interesting, but the decisions lie elsewhere.
IF it was my call, I'd have a yak with Tex and Burgess and back in the latter.
In Burgess, I trust (Nicks, not so much).

Nicks' stated "one-game-at-a-time" focus is not that simple; he has got to take into account 6- and 5-day breaks (to next game, Geelong), flight travel effects, injuries (Murray/Rachele), Gold Coast heat/humidity and multiple other factors. It's a helluva juggling act.
Bottom line: I want us to win, and I'm greedy. Every game :sneaky:.

Mainly remember junior Milera as a goal kicking wing, although that was a while ago and my memory may betray me. Point being that both of them have a decent amount of flexibility and not necessarily fighting for one spot.

Good to hear on Edwards, I didn't see the SANFL smashing. Haven't been sold on him since we reached at the draft but another quality kid would be awesome.
