... while Keane, Milera and Sholl go on their merry, underperforming way/s, confident that no matter how mediocre or poor they play, they're IN.

I hope not, but it would be very Nicks.
You don't change a team much that is playing the way we are. You just don't.

Although I'd like some player management with the 6 and then 5 day breaks.

Draft position over 2 years of AFL actual performance, please tell me you're not serious?

These are not tall gangly players that need time to develop.

Talent upside coming up for his 10th year in the AFL system you're taking the piss yeah?
Not sure how else to explain it one's performance the other is talent i.e. potential performance

And of course they're hoping milera's talent will come good, why else do you think he's getting a game 😃 they'd be hoping for a Shaun burgoyne type player i imagine who was another talented player who disappointed but saved his career off a hbf

I think its just going to be one change. I dont think we should look to manage Tex this time of year. Its only the 4th game in the season. He is either capable of playing the season or not. Managing players should only a be a couple of games for the year. Resting him now makes no sense. If I was going to do it, id rest him for the Fremantle game which is the midway point to the bye

Out: Rachele
In: Nankervis

First I've seen anyone think 2nd year stats are a reflection of talent, draft position a better reflection you'd think.

Pretty obvious to anyone that milera has more athletic talent just a matter of if he gets over his softness, that's why they're willing to give him a chance because of the talent upside.
I really can’t believe there are still people on this board thinking there’s a chance Milera is going to break out and become a game winner.

He is what he is.

We have seen it, we know it. Just accept it.

Delusion has set in with you obviously....

Unfortunately with Wayne's history of injuries he will almost certainly never reach his potential, that's just the way it is.

Most on the Gold Coast board have written us off. Apparently we have a ‘sh*t midfield’. OK. We’ll see.
Their midfield is good and will possibly beat ours, but a bit laughable to read that.
I hope Rankine has the game of his life and tears them a new one. They’ll be after him, see how he responds.
Sorry to spoil your narrative but just one poster is not a board. I saw that post and it was crap. Most Suns posters actually believe it will be a tough test. Crows are probably the hottest team.

Personally, I tip Suns just because is at home, with hot and humid conditions. But it would not surprise me if Crows win.

Sitting eastern side today, the sun was belting down, it actually felt like 30 degrees, even though it officially only got to 23.
Players were clearly fatigued, it was bloody warm.
My mate & I, same, baked in the sun which had some bite through my jeans even. Sheltered from the breeze until late in the last when it turned SSW. It was uncomfortable to say the least.

6-day break ==> NM, then 5-days ==> Gold Coast for Humidity (after showers) and 27C is going to be hard, even if the boys are slightly undertrained during the week.
That = 3 games in 11 days. Tough draw.

Winning or not, some player rotation might be the thing to do:
Pedlar/Taylor in for Rachele (inj., forced)
Nankervis in for Milera, but for a block of games unless he shits the bed, and
Butts for Keane. If Butts stinks it up (unlikely, since he has only 3Kicks and 1Hball to beat), bring Keane back.
Some other posters supporting Sholl can watch him get rag-dolled (again) and disappear under pressure in the heat without sticking a tackle vs. GCS.
If Sholl plays well, I'll be the first to apologise (and as punishment I will wear only my navy Y-fronts when watching the Crows vs. the Cats, while sitting in my recliner --- if that's too horrible a thought, cop this ... I was watching Ch7 Sport tonight, footage of Hinkley who was wearing a snug white T-shirt ...

WARNING, before you read on; if you have a weak stomach stop now ...

Horror of horrors, he has ...
...
an outie. I will never, ever be able to unsee it :eekv1: ).

Well….

I'd rest Tex, replace him with a smaller player to give us a bit more mobility and an extra potential midfield rotation in the warmer weather up there. I guess whoever is in the best form out of Pedlar , Berry or Taylor.
It's out of left-field, but I like your suggestion re: Tex.
5-day break and the humid heat will hurt Tex; a rest would give him nearly a 2-weeks break, refreshed and ready to kick a bag vs. Geelong  .
Pedlar is probably in for Rachele, anyway.
How about Shoenberg IN, who played well vs. Westies?
If it were up to me I'd also drop Milera after a pretty nothing performance against the Roos and give Nankervis another opportunity. Or possibly even Ryan, depending on how he's going. We have to have a look at him and Edwards at some point this year. But yeah, chances are that seniority probably saves Milera unless he has a solid 3-4 bad games in a row.
Nankervis in for Milera, PLEASE.
His "seniority" is really a mixed bag of injured years and missing games, poor bastard.
Let him find his feet and confidence back in the SANFL and bring him back to the Seniors if he tears it up.

... is schiessen. Wrong. Kaput.
I wish I could say something as simple as "I need to take my medication", but there is none for Oldness + an inability to read a Fixture List :drunk:.
Apologies.

Who said he'd get there? 😃 You're just making things up as you go, because your use of 2nd year stats to evaluate someone's talent was pretty dumb.

If you'd have read it we weren't discussing his likelihood of making it now rather mutineer's view that milera was not as talented as a nankervis and his reasoning was 2nd year stats, which i had to make a comment on because I'd never seen anyone else use 2nd year stats to evaluate talent in my life. 😃

A lot of opposition supporters think our best midfielders are still Laird, Crouch and probably even Sloane lol instead of Rankine, Dawson and Soligo.

Its 2000KM away, which is about 2.5-3 hours depending on tailwinds etc. They will also most likely get a late flight back Saturday night as well.
What are your sources please?
From Virgin Air: "You will travel roughly 1,600 kilometres on your flight with Virgin Australia from Adelaide to Gold Coast.".
Qantas: "The direct flight time from Adelaide to the Gold Coast is approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes."
Virgin: "... usually 2 hours and 20 minutes".
Willyweather predicts light SSW ==> ESE (not a head or tail wind).
Its a while for a 194cm man trying to recover and then play again at the highest level, then fly back and play a game 5 days later.
Fair point, but after so many seasons Tex'd have his pre- and post-flight routines down pat.
Another poster (you?) suggested resting Tex and bring in a smaller player to enable more small forward/mids rotations. Not the worst idea, imo.

What worries me more (and will affect the whole team, not just Tex) is playing after predicted showers in slippery, hot/humid conditions, then a 5-day break only, before Geelong.

I think Butts at times can be slow in thinking
... as in, he's not a very bright boy?
Dunno. My take is that he's not a fast, play-on type.
My recollections of Butts is that he doesn't really look around him before taking possession ie he has a lack of other-teammates' whereabouts, which is why he often stops and looks (say, after a mark) for a few seconds too long.
Meanwhile. oppos set up ... and close down his options.

Thats what I said :D

Everyone conveniently forgetting Milera was one of our best against the Bombers. Yes he had a bad day against North with ball in hand but kept Hansen Jnr - who had been in good form - quiet to the point he got subbed out.

Understand he's the new whipping boy but the need for a whipping boy among a club's supporters would be a fascinating group think psychology study.

Against Essendon who wasn’t in our best?

And it’s not a need for a whipping boy, it’s his selection after being injured for a year, where he didn’t have a big preseason over an inform younger player who should be playing and whose form in the SANFL has been huge.

He’s played 2 average games out of 3, emphasising the error in selection.

He was #7 in possessions and #6 in metres gained. Pretty decent 'average' game. And conveniently ignoring his defensive jobs. It's fine if you need one of your team's players to shit on but at least admit it to yourself.

I'd rather have Nank in the team than Milera but I'd rather have Nank in the team than a few players. Not really anyone else in the 2's I'd bring in ahead of Milera at this point. Of course that can change but that should be the case for everyone. Most didn't want Peatling dropped after his fumbly 13 touches against Essendon and that worked out ok.
