Rumour GFC 2025 Player Trading, Drafting FA, Rumours and Wish lists Pt 1

We can moan at times about trading out picks for players etc but generally I think our guys have been diligent and responsible…. especially when you compare us to some other clubs...

Carlton seems to be in a stupefying position

… If you boil it down, Carlton effectively gave up 33-goal small forward Matt Owies, pick 12, pick 73, a future first-round selection and a future second-round selection in exchange for Smith, Ben Camporeale and Lucas Camporeale.
The Blues’ future first and second-round selections are both held by Hawthorn and currently sit at picks 3 and 21 this November…..

I have to ask how Cook or anyone let that happen. … and whats worse its seem to have set up Haw for another great year at the draft …or trade collateral.

None of our targets are coming cheap. Not even Oliver, with all his issues.
we'll have to pay and thus need to choose very very wisely.

Baz is the first one that could blow up on us... although his foirst 1.5 game have bene good.

The jury is still way out on if its worth it or not.

Scott flies to Adelaide to meet Boak - so underhanded! So disrespectful! Who do Geelong think they are?

Mitchell flies to Perth to meet Allen - Hawks are ahead of the game! They are surely going to land every big name out of contract!
Caro... double standard.. no surely not...

I expect an OP ED piece on Caros Arrow aimed at herself for a rampant flag on the play... personal foul... "Double Standard.... 15 yard penalty.... The penalty will be enforced on the ensuing kick off...

If he maintains this play he’s worth more than Pick 25+ we gave up for him

Dogs would need to pull a diamond in the rough to win out on it

A late first rounder was an absolute steal for Baz whether he fixes our midfield or not. What else are you getting for a single pick that late ? That half game fade out was our entire team too, not just Baz.

Baz was a bargain.

He is 2x the player Bruhn is and cost even less.

I think it ended up #24 for him after bids... and for a guy who has come in and looks at a similar level to our best player in Holmes, it is a rolled gold deal for us IMO.

He has started better than anyone would have expected coming off an ACL and a year with no footy.

If Baz ain't worth that... how have people not been up in arms about handing over #18 for Bruhn who is at best an average player.

Everybody has said Smith was a bargain though. So better to address your post only to Daz rather than what "everyone" must think about other deals.

If we pay a high price ..we must make sure their is value in that payment.

Compare a player like Hewett who is a FA.. is that type better value than paying “whatever” for Oliver and having to shoulder his contract for another 4 or 5 years.

At least with BS …his age means we get value from the trade choice. Reid would cost a lot but one potential is looking at 10 years etc.

I confident we will be responsible. We might push a bit but we will not go crazy.

Yes, that sounds fair enough.

I guess I could/should specifically ask Daz the question... He can answer if he wants.

Smith looks every bit worth pick 24 + much more to my eyes... but everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Smith does have some blow up factor which is understandable.

I couldn't expect Smith to hit the ground running any better than he has... I think he is an amazing addition to the list.

Smith's only question mark concerns ball use, but we knew that going in. Hopefully it improves as he blows the cobwebs off, but everything else he brings on the footy field made that deal a certified bargain unless his body gives out.

Post premiership glow. We could've used pick one on Darcy Lang and I seriously couldn't have cared less.

Those few months post Sep '22 were unreal. If we start making mistakes after shit years, then yeah, people will (rightly) start losing their minds.

I personally can't see Butters coming to Geelong! I don't think iv seen any media outlet mentioning Geelong. Apart from people on BigFooty. Until a guy like Mitch Cleary mentions Geelong, it's a only a dream of Geelong getting Butters

Cal Twomey said Bulldogs and Cats front runners for him just a day ago on Gettable.
Twomey is pretty darn ITK, he was repeatedly saying Cats had Smith on lock a long way out.

Trust him far more than McClure who said about 4 teams were in the lead for him including Dons, Hawks, Pies and can’t remember the fourth.
Sounded like complete rubbish.

Hopefully Chris Scott is cool with free agent captains talking to opposition coaches only because he is meeting with Bont every month.

Scotty is ok with it because he’s not a dinosaur who thinks players should give undying loyalty to a club while having no autonomy over their careers.
Pretty logical when you think about it, why shouldn’t they choose where they want to work?

Allen is a Free Agent, if West Coast were managed better they wouldn’t be in this predicament.
Leigh Colbert brought us Enright and Mooney.

Who knows? May bring West Coast their next club greats.

Word is they're really prodding him to go, they just can't say it. A bit like McKay with Norf.

26 years of age, degenerative knee condition, with Waterman and two young talls in Reid and Shanahan in reserve, with a list full of holes elsewhere.

They want the compensation pick, and it makes sense. I don't think Allen is at fault here at all for assessing his options, nor are West Coast for looking at the long-term plan for the club while rebuilding.

It's a mountain out of a molehill, and somehow everyone except the media can grasp what's going on.

'Moons' has said his kicking - particularly for goal - wasn't his strength.

I guess I remember before 08 GF mess up , that in the 07 GF and he kicked 5 goals and he looked to have a enough fluency that day. I think that 08 really messed with his head. Anyway I hope Jagger kicks it well too.

I agree. I think the WA media is pretty feral. WC probably know they are unlikely to get a Priority Pick after winning a GF in 2018 and realise they need some hard choices to add more talent. Also , as you say , they have got some young KPF kids ..and there is another Curtin in the u18’s who is a FF. Maybe they draft him too. Haw traded in Boygoyne with a degenerative knee and he went on to play 200 plau games for them so maybe it doesn't worry them.
