Nice to see Butler get a run. Was great last weekend by all reports. Been in the system for a little while so expecting a decent return.

Keen to see how O’Brien goes. His last year with the Hawks was his best so far and he brings 100 games of experience to the team. I wouldn’t be surprised if he plays well. A few intercept marks would be nice too.

What role do you think Butler has been brought in to play?

Lmfao that team selection is horrendous, yes losing Keath sucks but there’s options to at least try and replace him and let’s be honest it’s something we’ll have to get used to considering he’s obviously very very close to cooked, might as well start now. We’ve got Gardener and a 3rd tall in O’Brien 😂 why can’t we just back Schache in for a month playing solely behind the ball with out chopping and changing, a role he played all preseason and played quite well for a bit last year.

At the very least at the end of the next month we’d have a very good idea of whether there is any chance any of Gards, O’Brien or Schache are good enough

Not only that but our ruck stocks have somehow gotten worse after we lost our 2nd ruck in Cordy and are now solely relying on Hannan for a chop out 😂 no don’t play a 2nd ruck so Timmy can chop out a bit more time behind the ball, or free Naughty to go back there if needed - we’re already so strong back there that would make no sense 🙄

We’ve been absolutely gifted that they’ve dropped Soldo, I hope they don’t realise their mistake - even with him dropped we’ve gone in in a game where we have to absolutely dominate the midfield considering how poor we’re lining up behind the ball, and we’ve thought that Timmy/Hannan against Nank/Soldo is a good idea? Mindblowing.

Least we’ve got one more ball butcherer out of the team, going to absolutely need to be on our game skills wise to have any chance of somehow scrapping out another win against a bottom 8 side.

What happens when Soldo rests forward? Who takes him out of Caleb, Richards and Duryea?

IF Soldo played, his FWD rotation would involve one of the KPF’s having a spell on the bench. Not many sides would play 4 talls inside 50 at the same time. Otherwise it’s, Say goodbye to the footy if it’s not marked upon entry.

So, the match ups wouldn’t change apart from Hans Soldo taking his teammates place inside 50.

You're forgetting our experienced ruck in Dunkley and the Vietnam Swans premiership ruckman in Libba

JUH had a hitout to Bonts advantage last week too. If anything we have too many ruck options

Soldo has been omitted

Thanks. Thought he was more HBF
I think he was drafted at HBF but is definitely being developed as a winger, I quite like his form actually he’s a great player at VFL level - I really don’t know if he’s got the tools for AFL, doesn’t really seem to have any weapons in his game, he’s probably a lesser hunter with a longer kick, but he’s not super accurate with that kick anyway but at least gets good length. Not overly quick but runs hard all day, not overly big or strong but has a crack when he needs to.

Yeah, our backline looks shit.

Was hoping Buku could get a crack, we have no intercepting down there.

VDM's game last week saved him. McNeil is hard done by.

Glad to see Louie Butler in. He's going to be a good player for us imo.

He needs to show something PDQ then.

Called for Butler to replace Rourke earlier in this thread so happy to see that happen.

Keath out is massive blow but I don't think it's the end of the world.

We have seemed to pick a side with a lot of run, which could be a factor with them coming off back to back 6 day breaks while us off a 9 day break.

Could definitely work in our favour if we can stay in the game until the 4th qtr. Tigs have played some pretty good footy early in games this year and with these line ups
Could wipe us pretty quickly if we’re not on early

Off the top of my head, this will be the first game where he has a wing to his self.
He's played well in the VFL this year (particularly 2 weeks ago) and last year before it was called off.

He has also showed decent signs in his few games so far.

I'm bullish about his future.
