Seems like he is investing in the source and contests thereat and backing us to outscore them. No doubt their taller timber will score a few but will it be enough. And let's face it, their smalls to mediums in the fwd line are just as dangerous and our smaller backline is better equipped to cope with that threat whilst also having the capacity to rebound. Not against this horse for this course.
I think longer term in the season weā€™ll want Jones + JOD + 3rd ā€œtallā€ and the question will be whether Buku, Coffield, Williams or Richards (or Buss pending development) fills that last role.

In the interim I donā€™t mind Buku having the experience having to play tall, and at every goal kicked on him by a taller forward Iā€™ll just remind myself at least itā€™s not Keath switching to Gardy.

The general talk of the Geelong thread in relation to this game is that the dogs are better on paper, however they will win as they have a better coach.

I think that is a pretty accurate pre game summary.

I don't agree they necessarily have the better coach in all aspects - but they have a coach who sticks to a consistent method, and uses players more consistently to utilise their strengths. He also repeatedly exploits the refusal by our coach to negate Stewart. I don't think Scott is more creative, or can spin a better narrative or has better relationships with his playing list. He just sticks to a proven process. Like with Melbourne, we lose to them too often in the same manner, yet rarely adjust our tactics to create a different outcome, or at least the opportunity to create one.

Garcia is burning in the VFL.Just demanding to invigorate our midfield.
And O'Donnell is best 22.
But let's play safe with Macrae and Duryea
Sonny should at the very least have been sub.

I believe that Bevo in 2024 (AKA New Bevo) is a lot different to the Bevo of the last few years (AKA Bad Bevo).
We'll soon find out.

Gotta say, some good questions from the assembled media at that presser.

They displayed plenty of knowledge of the players on our list and the topical issues around the club.

Given that fairly junior reporters typically attend the press conferences, it offers a start contrast to the blathering commentary and down right ignorance displayed by Dermott Brereton on the weekend.

It was a good interview. Bevo seems a lot more relaxed and his sense of humour has returned. All good signs.

I kind of get the sense that training and play style over the past year or 2 has been really technical and complicated, mainly from some of the word use Beve was using in interviews. Looked like players were not enjoying there footy.
Wonder if they are trying to keep it a little more simple this year.
