Junior Rioli is apparently leaving the Eagles for the same money and contract length as we have offered Logue. I know Junior is older but I'd see than as players with a similar value.
With all Rioli's baggage and training ethics? I'd have Logue more valuable IMO

Forgive the intrusion but I for one commend Fremantle if they decide to go down the path of holding Rory Lobb to his contract.
The AFL is increasingly becoming more like the EPL or American Sports where contracts mean nothing, the balance isn't right in my opinion.
Might be worthy of a thread by itself but I have no issue for a club to hold a player to the agreement they signed.
Freo are only doing it to inflate his price, he's gone.

With respect, you need to stop perpetuating a falsehood.

Agents are appointed to act on behalf of players, the agent agreements are fed back to AFLPA.

It's in the name - Agent. The player is in charge.

Btw, when did being in Bali incapacitate a player? Phones, internet, world's come along way.

I'm repeating what was spoken to me by a player agent while interviewed about player movement and management.

I’m not interested in a contracted Jeremy Sharp
Given our history with them, I think he's one they are almost happy to leave. Would hopefully be treated as trading for an out of contract player. I agree I'm not interested in paying overs for a guy who has a lot to prove (but still has potential).

Tom Hawkins is on $300k

Fremantle star players would never do this. This is why the trophy cabinet is empty.

Hardly the same thing. Hawkins is royalty down there. He would already be setup for life & there would be any number of property developers or other well placed businesses that would have ways of making sure he’s well taken care of off the books. Plus he’s 34. He would have had way fatter contracts previously.

Those guys are like the Eagles, their own little mafia that has been gaming the system for years to look after players.

Oh and the Cats got him for pick 44 as F/S when he was considered the best KPF in the land for his age.

Fair, even competition? Sure it is. I look forward to the AFL setting up Clarko to get North back to the top in 3 years. Sydney to keep getting a couple of free top 10 players every year & the expansion clubs given extra zone concessions.

Haha, ethics probably the wrong word but the dude clearly doesnt exactly take his training too seriously

I'll have to disagree with you here, that may have been the case as a Junior, but from what I understand, his work to transform his running capacity was first class.

His decision making away from the club environment, leaves alot to be desired....

may I ask why?
I don’t rate his character as good fit.
I don’t rate his footballing ability.
I didn’t rate him in his draft year and he’s done nothing since to prove me wrong.
And unless GC are salary dumping him like they did with Brodie, which surely they wouldn’t do that after last year, then he’ll be over priced.

Let him show something more in the last year of his contract and then grab him next trade season.

Griff would be silly to leave for a little more money. He's very personable and well spoken. This is his home state. 1 club players with good social acumen get a really good leg up in life after footy. You go off as a mercenary to North Melbourne for 100k more for 3 years, when you come back you won't get the support from corporates and supporters in your life after footy.
It's hard to imagine a young bloke giving this much up for at most 20% more salary for three years. He won't even notice it in his 40s and 50s for ****'s sake.

I just don’t personally believe he has the potential. Also from people who knew him, he’s a figjam.

His exit meeting has come and gone several hours ago. Should know by tonight but freo haven't released anything official for lobb or acres trade requests yet so who knows when.
Yeah guessing we will know today (unofficially) with what his doing

And I won’t be crying when Acres dies his hammy again.
I’ll be cheering when he lobs one of his thoughtless rainbow kicks into the forward line, where his team mates are up against 3 on 1.
I’ve gone from sad to “bugger off”.
What colour is he "dieing" his hammy. You can't even incorrectly spell it well enough to let me make a joke. Calls for a ban. Not on. Not Australian at all.

I'm willing to give him a shot but I was hoping the club had someone more ready in mind to replace him, not a prospect player.

C'mon, no one looks like he does at AFL level, most A-grade Ammo's players have a better physique.

He is an incredibly naturally gifted footballer but that's where his value stops and ends

Exactly. The Cats have one of the biggest rackets going. Laughable how this myth keeps getting pedalled that their players are happy to take unders just for the joys of playing for Geelong. Their star players are cleaning up more than they would at any other club.

Hawkins lives on a 60 hectare farm that I bet my left nut he bought for a "bargain". I read some article a while back about how "some rare land went on sale" and he miraculously managed to be the one making the purchase. I read another article about Dangerfield's house, about how he used to look at some land for years and thought it would be a great spot, and then one day lo and behold it was his.

From memory, and speaking with folk in the SANFL, he turned up looking like a cloud - dropped 15+ kilos, improved his running capacity and engaged a dietician AT Glenelg to educate himself on how to eat correctly.

Doesn't speak to someone with poor work ethic. Just my opinion I suppose.

Then again, I am often wrong.

He had 15 kilos to drop because he was a fatty bumba. He's at the bare minimum of AFL fitness, there are no others with a "physique" like his in the AFL

When the Calabrian mafia puts $1million bounty on the head of Dale Alcock like they did with Frank Costa, we'll know our club is playing by the Geelong rules
