I can guarantee the majority of us would do exactly what Logue and Acres would do if we knew we had a very limited career-trajectory in a specific field and potential to earn as much as possible within that time frame.
To me Acres deciding to move is understandable and makes perfect sense for him. He's injury prone and will get more cash with security plus he's still somewhere in finals contention.

Logue moving for more money when he's already been offered a good deal at home with a team right in the mix to somewhere like North? It is idiocy and dare I say it even greed.

Forgive the intrusion but I for one commend Fremantle if they decide to go down the path of holding Rory Lobb to his contract.
The AFL is increasingly becoming more like the EPL or American Sports where contracts mean nothing, the balance isn't right in my opinion.
Might be worthy of a thread by itself but I have no issue for a club to hold a player to the agreement they signed.
I am inclined to feel the same way - until such time as Teams can forcibly trade players who are in contract without their consent, I think the balance and value of a contract is out of whack.

Exactly. Be where you are happy if you are already getting 2 mil.

If pick 19 comes into play from Norf for Logue, it’s a nice pick to have

We ended up keeping it on day 2 of trade night to get Johnson, but could have traded something really nice for it if we were half serious

A slight downgrade from 19 to the early 20s plus a swap of future first round picks with Hawthorn I believe was on offer. How handy would that pick 6 be in retrospect, though we'd have some other guy from the second round not Johnson.

He will if the player is overseas, say in Bali as the suggestion was made.

And there are players who have their finances under control of a business manager.

With respect, you need to stop perpetuating a falsehood.

Agents are appointed to act on behalf of players, the agent agreements are fed back to AFLPA.

It's in the name - Agent. The player is in charge.

Btw, when did being in Bali incapacitate a player? Phones, internet, world's come along way.

It’s interesting that North Melb have been linked to Logue and Tucker, amongst other clubs players as well. Offering big $.

Problem is current draft capital

They have #1 pick, and then a 4th round pick, the rest has been traded away. They also don’t have a lot of players clubs would trade for, maybe Thomas but it’s a bare cupboard at the Roo’s.

Just leaves future picks to get everything done… which I’m not sure will fill our Christmas stocking!
Easy. They can have Tucker and Logue and we will have pick #1. done.

If Logue goes for money, he has gone from hero to zero in my books.

I never boo anyone... ever. I might have to change my mind on this.

Griff would be silly to leave for a little more money. He's very personable and well spoken. This is his home state. 1 club players with good social acumen get a really good leg up in life after footy. You go off as a mercenary to North Melbourne for 100k more for 3 years, when you come back you won't get the support from corporates and supporters in your life after footy.

Anyone bagging these blokes getting a better deal, ask yourself would you take a new job if it was paying 30% better with more security?
These blokes are underpaid, and should get more! Fyfe & Lobb excluded
The sad thing is, the game seems to be all about the money. It’s no longer the game I loved where commitment, loyalty, success, and the love of the game made you and your supporters passionate with belief. We aren’t paid to put up with the shit we cop for following this club. If money is now the only motivation to play, then it’s now all about empires.
Where are the Mundys and Pavs, who stuck around through thick and thin? They weren’t even West Australians! With all that’s going on, I love and admire them even more.

And I won’t be crying when Acres does his hammy again.
I’ll be cheering when he lobs one of his thoughtless rainbow kicks into the forward line, where his team mates are up against 3 on 1.
I’ve gone from sad to “bugger off”.

He really shouldn't underestimate this IMO.

A charismatic bloke like him, if he stays he has a job with Channel 7 or 9 locked in. Really have to think about your life after footy as well, something that Colon doesn't teach the lads

Look to successful clubs like the Cats and the Tigers, there would be quite a few underpaid players there also but they have taken less to play in a successful team together.
