VFL 2012 Sandringham Zebras News & Discussion Part 2

Not trolling here just asking an honest question but how would the zebras be going if the saints weren't here? Take out all saints listed players and our training facility and would it hurt them? Or do they have enough money to go out and pay quality players? Cause surely it would be a little give and take as in we put in a couple of developing players that don't deserve to be there and they get a lot of the benefits of our investment in them? Anyways just a thought.

They don't use our training facilities as far as I know, and I think they could just align with a different team

As far as im aware they get to use training facilities once week, or every couple weeks. Well they were at start of season.

Basically neither club can afford to be standalone. Sandy would still recruit likes of Cockie, Cook, Dowler etc without Saints. Yes its bonus to get them to club but remember Sandy are one oldest & successful clubs in VFL.

People say Saints guys should be given priority and then say Sandy guys just whinging. But its just like anyone at any level of sport, if you are performing week in week out and consistently overlooked it will come to head at some stage.

Couldn't it also be conflict with the coach? At that level there are a lot more options for a player who thinks he'll be better off elsewhere.
I wonder how many players would have left StKilda during the Lyon era if they could have just wandered down the road and got a job with another club.

Having McPhee in a dual role (head coach at Sandringham, and development coach at St Kilda) is a conflict, but I thought he'd be smart enough to find the balance.

This is really disappointing. If the thought is that Staley, Lever, Shenton and Crocker (and Winmar until this game) were better than Irving, Lourey, Meehan, Stapleton, Waller and Hallahan then fair enough - but that would be very difficult to argue.

And if we don't retain Staley and Shenton (Minchington too) it looks incredibly sloppy.

@sandyzebs: There will b live VIDEO STREAMING of the senior game on Sunday with commentary team & numerous camera angles - further details 2 come!

I've always wondered how hard it would be to do had mentioned to them at start of year would be pretty cool. Especially given lack coverage VFL gets it would be very popular. Just posting live updates on twitter is very popular, so imagine if people can actually tune in and watch!!

Here's the question. Bottom line.

Are we going to be with Sandringham in 2013? And if not, are we going it alone or seeking another alignment?

Frankston will never align with AFL club, will always be standalone. We are contracted for 2013 with Sandringham so unless one team wants to break it we will be with them next year.

The VFL website will be the place to head to this Sunday for the first video streaming trial in the Peter Jackson VFL. AFL Victoria will be completing a two week trial of live video streaming over rounds 20 and 21 with the view to further develop this medium in 2013.

This weekend the team will head out to Trevor Barker Beach Oval for the clash between Sandringham and Collingwood, with the following weeks game to be the Northern Blues versus Werribee Tigers.

Supporters can tune in from 1:50pm for a preview of the upcoming match, with the broadcast also to include around the ground scores throughout the afternoon.

The live match stream will be available via smart phones and iPad’s so you will be able to tune in on the go where ever you are on Sunday.

A link will be available on Sunday on the home page at vfl.com.au or click HERE to access it.

Myke Cook was on the VFL Show on SEN last night. You can listen to it here (first two parts) http://www.aflvic.com.au/index.php?id=524

But here are couple interesting things he said for those too lazy to listen!!

"We started off really well and I think midway through the season we got a bit ahead of ourselves. A few of the boys found themselves in bit different territory then their use too. We’ve swung it around, we’ve made couple focus points for the team and we’re sticking to that and we’ve had couple good wins in few weeks."

"I’ve been really happy with my form, I think I’ve spent bit more time up in the forward line whereas at start of year I was in midfield, in the guts a bit more. My body’s holding up well, I didn’t play against Bendigo as had little knick in my quad but after the bye I’ve pulled up pretty well and was fresh last week."

"I think I just need to keep chipping away at my endurance, probably foot skills let me down a bit but I think I have plenty of attributes for if any AFL team wants to give me a second chance."

"He {Simon McPhee} has had to juggle selection a lot. There are probably few of guys in the reserves that could be playing ones, but obviously due to the alignment things haven’t gone their way. He’s done well; he’s put best side that he can in each week with restrictions held by St Kilda."

Some wow right there.

VFL Show on SEN

Who's that idiot? Fancy being on a VFL show and not knowing where a star VFL recruit (who is a special guest) comes from. The lack of homework of journos these days is scary.

heck, just listened to the end of it and he's made an arse of himself again.

I probably should have got someone to check the last bit before i posted it, but ive listened 100 times and im 99% sure he says "with restrictions held by StKilda"

But rest is exactly as he said it.
