It's pretty ruthless list management ATM.
I was surprised by the 3 delistings today.
But hey as you say, the previous method of holding out in hope hasn't worked, very well.
So do something different,, I will be very surprised if Patton doesn't get picked up.

Paton will end up at GWS as a DFA.

Crouch is contracted for next season, unless he retires.
So, his mission will be to lead Sandy to a premiership?
Or recovers well & plays like he did in 2023.

Delisting of both Hayes and Hotton is good news for Peckett I would imagine. Seems pretty straight-forward now:

Out
Allison, Battle, Bonnor, Campbell, Hayes, Hotton, Membrey, Paton, Ross & Van Es

In
Hall, McCrae 7, 8, 32, 47, Cole, Hoffman & Peckett (likely as a rookie)

Last spot then goes to either a pick in the teens (which we buy for our F1), or a state league ruckman

Don't understand letting both Membrey and Hayes go

Sounds like we were only prepared to give Membery 1 year. Collingwood seems to have offered 2, so in recognition of his service and to help him get there we delisted him.

I would’ve given Hayes 1 year, but they know his medical status. So guess they didn’t think it would be worthwhile.

Have decided not to purchase a membership next year. And will likely watch the Pies games wtf, to see Josh & Nick Daicos lacing it out to Tim Membrey. More joy in watching that than our rabble. Wasn't like he was keeping a kid out. Just realised how truly gutted I am with the Battle & Membrey exits.

that's the spirit

Yeah I understand that, so Heath & Keeler who are still un-played young developing talls get games next year, not coz their ready, but out of necessity.
Instead of winning 6 out of 8 dead rubber games last year, wouldn't it of been better to give Heath & Keeler a run in those games.
They were actually playing quite well in the vfl.
Instead they gave games to Campbell & Membrey who as it turns out aren't in our future, but are in someone else's.

Nah. Team selection is about winning games. List management is about future planning. Different things.

So which of Sharman, Owens or Caminiti did you want out for Membrey next year?

But seriously, no one cares if you want to support another club because you value a 30 year old forward more than the rest of the list. Enjoy the pies games.

Brother it was absolutely the right call, Tim gets 2 more years guaranteed instead of 1, and he probably would have been keeping a kid out. King, Sharman, Caminiti, Owens and even Marshall looked a greater weapon with time spent forward in those few games with Campbell in the side.

A bit like Josh "On The Bags" Bruce heading to Western when we started giving games to King, writing was on the wall. Easier for Tim at 30, near the end of his career and gets a couple more at the Pies.

Hopefully Hind goes well in the NT league and we can "bring him home"! Might tune in to watch, better than watching our rabble.

Only Skunk leaves with a thank you and well wishes, Josh left with a snipe and bitchy attitude to watch the Dogs utterly implode for him to walk away after an ACL. I like to think this is because Skunk can kick straight whilst Josh missed from the line cause he couldn't sniff it to think Bevo was a great idea.

Do you remember Membrey's start to the year? How I remember it is thinking that he looked like he had gone on one year too many, he couldn't jump as well as he used to and was regularly fumbling uncontested marks. About 8 rounds into the year he was "managed" with Seb and they both played a few weeks at Sandy. If not for King and Caminiti's injuries he probably finishes the year in the VFL and "retires" at the end of the year along with Ross. He had a few good games to finish the year, but it would be crazy to give him 2 years based on that.

Delisted him? He was uncontracted and is a free agent. He could walk wherever he wanted regardless of what st Kilda did

Not to mention Swans did us a solid with him originally, this would be akin to just returning the favour to the next club, rare case of everyone involved actually being professional about player movement in the AFL for the duration of a players life in the AFL I'd have thought.

Now if the Pies screw him, Swans, us and Skunk can blame the Pies for screwing him over at this point.

Membrey was OK at the start of the year, poor in the middle part, along with the team, then good in the later part. Two more years while Caminiti, Heath, Keeler continue to develop, fine by me.

Two years for a 30 year old with a dodgy knee, who's marking game is heavily dependant on a double footed jump, wouldn't have been a smart call IMO.
