You don’t become close to your clubs best mid and an AFL top 20 midfielder by being just vanilla….

Hey, don’t bash vanilla too hard, it can be delicious as a flav.. a vanilla player is just someone who lacks a standout trait with their game. Doesn’t mean they arent good. Don’t get the two concepts mixed up.

But you know he was injured having played no Coates League before the Champs and on limited minutes, just like FOS.

Mate he is playing against 17yo’s and is supposed to be the best player in the league. If all he could conjure up when fully fit after recovering from an injury was an 8 possession game in the midfield, then that’s easily the worst no1 draft pick we have seen in over a decade. Name for me one other midfielder who got 8 touches in a champ game then went on to be picked at no1. Very poor quality no1 candidates

Brayshaw is more of a workhorse, a very good one for sure. Pure mid. FOS will start off more as a half forward, has very good athleticism and is a good mark for his size so not really a pure mid. Probably a bit Delidio without Delidio's express pace. A cross between the two would be good, as long as we pick him. If Carlton get him, I hope he's a hack.

The bolded describes FOS. Lalor who is the other no1 contender is quite a weak prospect and is more potential based than talent or output at this point. Very far behind other no1’s in the last decade

Lalor played mainly as a forward in the Champs, and again on limited time and very little preparation. He was not and never has been considered the best mid in the comp, but high draft picks are based on projected ability. Many Morrish medalists never even get drafted, so lame argument.
