Once again AFL Tasmania have under performed with their launch of the SWL for the 2014 season.
All their excuses just reinforce that the need to remove those in power and inject new blood into management that actually might create some excitement in Tasmanian Football.
I just tried to log onto the website for the new club "Hobart City".
Not surprised that the website does not exist.
This would be funny if it was not so sad.
To successfully drive change you need a solid business plan which everyone buys into and an organisation which has the expertise to execute the plan.
No wonder the competition is in a mess!
With the likely delistings of Sam Darley, Marcus Davies, Jacob Gillbee and Aaron Joseph, I wonder if they would consider coming back to play in the SWL?
I knew another good idea would not be long coming from AFL Tasmania.
North Hobart & Hobart combine to put a colts side in the TSL for the 2013 season. Additionally Kingston also have a team in the colts in 2013.
The comparison to the Gold Coast Suns & Giants having a team in the VFL the year...
PLEASE CONSIDER:
At present North Hobart & Hobart have a contract to field senior teams in the TSL in 2013.
However AFL TAS are starting to make noises that they want the "Hobart City Team" & "Kingston" playing in 2013.
Kingston stated they believe they need another 12 months to get their...
Not quite! (correct me if I am wrong-my head hurts!!)
If Hobart and North Hobart agree to AFL Tas "concept", then each side has a 50% ownership of the new team.
If only 1 club want/get licence, then that club hold 50% and AFL Tas 50%.
If both clubs decide to play SFL, then AFL Tas own 100%...
Could anyone tell me what significant benefits AFL Tasmania believe that a "new" city based club will achieve.
NHFC & NHJFC club consist of Auskick to Seniors. They have met all the criteria set down by AFL Tasmania, and have about 5 guys on AFL lists. (Garland, Davies, Darley, Jones &...
Do AFL Tasmania have the resources to successfully start up 2 new clubs in 2013?
Even the AFL with all their resources didn't start up the Suns and Giants in the same year.
It scares me that AFL Tasmania believe they can successfully implement all the requirements that a club need to be able...
If Hobart FC get the nod from AFL, it would appear they are in essence a new club as per the latest AFL Tasmania directive.
Surely the constitution of the HFC would need to be significantly altered to allow any access to their reported $600,00 (from the sale of the Brisbane Hotel) warchest...
I copied this from "Forums".
It would be interesting to know if AFL Tasmania have seriously looked at investing in streaming games.
"AFL Victoria would be better exploring other media options than Future Stars and the Radio broadcast. In this day and age there's not really any reason why...
Most likely heading off on Thursday to see NHFC v GFC at North Hobart oval.
Will try and post some information within the next 24-48 hours after game.
Tassie Boys in AFL
Good luck to Aaron Hall and George Burbury who will be playing for Suns and Cats respectively in the NAB Cup game this Friday night.
Hopefully they can back up from their individual efforts after last week. :thumbsu:
Re: George Burbury
Geelomg have released their sqaud for the upcoming NAB cup games and Georgr Burbury has been named.
A fantastic effort from a Tassie boy who has obviously put in a lot of work over the last few years. Hopefully this will be the first of many games in the hoops!
Aaron Hall
It appears that Aaron Hall will get a chance to showcase his ability in the NAB cup this weekend when GCS play Brisbane & Melbourne at Metricon.
Apparently he is burning up the track at training and he is likely to play seniors with GCS in 2012. I suppose if he has a good NAB cup...
Hawks Scratch match 10/2/2012
I heard that a few Tassie boys are going to have a run with the Hawks in their intra club game tomorrow.
Dobosz, Mihocek and Byard are a few of the boys apparently playing at Aurora. Good luck boys!
Re: Future of AFL Tasmania
I agree that there are alot of people who are only willing to look at their turf, without any consideration for anything else.
My reason for playing the Mariners in the TAC competition is that the kids will know that they have been showcased in a competition...
Future of AFL Tasmania
Surely it is time the AFL increased funding to AFL Tasmania so that it is on an even footing with the rest of the States.
While I fully understand the push into NSW and Queensland, surely our football history deserves more than the funding we presently receive.
We...
Re: Hobart FC
Thanks Steveo for your information.
Would be interested on HFC numbers at post Xmas season training, as I have been hearing about movement of players to other clubs.
Hobart FC
Wondering if it is true that only 12 players turned up for training post Xmas.
If this is true it is very disturbing not only for HFC, but for AFL Tasmania.
It would seem that fielding 2 teams each weekend would be unlikely, and that they would be destroyed.
This would not...
Colts
I understand that the Colts will now only require that 10 players be aged 18 years or under in the 2012 season. This number was 14 U/18 boys in 2011. Looks like it is slowly moving to an U/23 competition.
This entry should cause some interesting comments! Don't shoot the messenger as I...
Re: STJFL U/18's
You really do not get it!
My whole point has been we need to make it easier for kids to play Aussie Rules.
My response to George's origins is that all kids get their start at the junior level and we need to continue to evolve with a changing society to make this continue...
Re: STJFL U/18's
Burbury played juniors at Sandy Bay and Hutchins school.
To the best of my knowledge he played 6 games in his whole life with Hobart, which certainly helped him get noticed.
They may claim him as a "Hobart" player, but honestly you cannot seriously think they had anything...
Re: STJFL U/18's
I am not quite sure why the STJFL running a U/18 competition which eminates from existing clubs will ruin the SFL underage competition.
My whole point is that we should make it easier to keep kids involved in Aussie Rules up to the 18 year old bracket (Year 12 boys)...
