Where's the pics? Where's the links? Where's the sauce?

Terrible reporting, you must work for Fox Sports Australia.

I've noticed plenty of teams now have sponsors logos on the left where the club badge should be. What is going on? In my view it's a disgrace.
It is a disgrace and totally unnecessary. The marketing buffoons don't give a s**t about tradition.Hopefully Richmond will start doing away with these prostitutions some time. I'll tell what else is a ******* scandal, the big advertisement on the back of the jumper in non club colours. And that digital fence changing constantly, it's an insult.Sometimes it like footy is the bait to get you into the ground, so the corporate branding can begin.

What's wrong with the fence having advertising on it?

It plays moving video, that's only a fairly recent thing. You shouldn't have to be distracted whilst watching the game once you've paid to get in.It's a game of football, not a corporate branding vehicle, or is it?
The advertisements are largely for the people watching on TV.

If you go to a game and spend all your time looking at the advertising board, I think you need to get your priorities in order.

Nothing wrong with having advertising on jumpers or on the fence, it helps pay the bills.

I think you are getting a little too upset by this.

Sure it's not fantastic, but wanting to move back to tradition is like hoping the internet will die off.

I dunno, in the prelim I found the advertising boards more entertaining than the game

Yeah nah, there are plenty of sports where you can go without being bombarded by corporate branding for gambling, junk food ect.You probably don't realize how affected by it you are.

Aussie Rules has never had club badges on jumpers.

There are some examples otherwise (the SANFL in the 70s and 80s, St Kilda) but historically you're defined by a jumper that doesn't change.

Weirdly enough having club logos on the jumper is a recent thing. A money making thing. See Geelong since the 2000s-ish, Collingwood now and then, and basically every side who have some sort of thing on top of the numbers on the back.

Take advertising away and the AFL will fold within the next 12 months. You've clearly got no idea how much money it generates for the league and the clubs.

Smaller clubs who are struggling off field like the Bulldogs, St. Kilda and North Melboune would go under without advertising almost instantly.

But why is it that every year there is more and more advertising, where does it stop? Surely moving images on the fence is a step to far.You also have to take into account over-commercialisation, aesthetic of the game, tradition, fan experience ect. To me those video fences, scoreboard adds , the ******** on the loudspeaker, half-time corporate wank off game thingo ruins thd day.Your argument that the money is needed doesnt stand up, none of the players are poor.Let them make $10,000 a year less and get rid of some of the crap like adds on the Sherrin and goalposts

Who said the players were poor? The players salary cap makes up a very small amount of the costs for a football club each year.

If all 44 players took a $10,000 pay cut; that would raise $440,000 for the club per year. Costs $20,000,000 on average to run a footy club.

Also don’t think the rookies would be happy losing $10,000 of their $70,000.

There’s nothing wrong with advertising on the fence. Every professional league in the world has it, it’s part of modern sport. Get over it.

There is something wrong with advertising, that's where we differ.

Which sports?
Epl is not as bad as AFL, no flashing fence crap there. The jumpers aren't as covered in crap like ours. The Afl draws the biggest crowds in the world, with people who pay to get in.We don't need to go down the American path of adds on virtually everything.
