Welcome Welcome Jaeger O'Meara!!!

He may be a decent guy behind the scenes as a leader but his output on the field is awful, he needs to be playing half forward flank, not midfield.

I was a doubter. Credit to JOM for turning it around. He's played much better these past few weeks.
I agree. I think he's the one who's benefited the most from the Fyfe return and Jackson spending time in centre clearances as they've done a great job blocking bigger onballers at centre clearances which creates space for the other onballers to win the ball,

It’s funny. I used to dream of him playing for Freo one day after hearing first hand from someone heavily involved in football in Geraldton about his heroics as a 16yo in the men’s GF up there & that he came down & trained with us before being drafted.

When he finally arrived I was underwhelmed having long ago realized he was never going to be the player he could have been without injury.

I’m slowly coming around to the fact he is now an ultimate professional who sets standards & he can still football a bit.

He’s not David Mundy but no one is except the great man himself but he’s pretty handy at times.

As someone who isn't fully aware of his junior footballing prowess (yet still heard a fair bit about it since), is there any chance you could give someone like me a bit of a rundown what he projected to be? Similar to Hill/Ric/Logan Mcdonald level teenage prodigy?

He'll be a net positive after his 4 years, despite the counter arguments about his lack of foot speed.

He was hyped WAY higher. He is the most hyped player I have heard of pre draft outside of Harley Reid.

He would have easily gone number 1 and there for had more hype because of that if he didn't go in the mini draft, a special draft for players too young to be drafted that year.

His knee injuries robbed him of his pace, agility, and potentially even kicking ability. He has played through pain his entire career after the knee injuries. He has degenerative knees, no afl player in the past has managed to last as long, and certainly not with anywhere the form that Jaeger has managed once diagnosed. He has degenerative patella tendons (the large tendons which join the quadriceps over the knee) in BOTH knees.

Wow! Thanks for giving me that info! I'm cheering for him even harder now! I knew he was something special as a youth, didn't realise just how good he was.
Did he play much with Bennell for early GC?

In addition he actually lived up to the hype that first year. Before the injuries started hitting he looked like he could end up something like Judd. His pace, skills and composure was nutty when he started.

The early GC medical team were basically a bunch of Webers who specialised in destroying careers. We’ll never know what those quacks cost us in footballing talent with Bennell and JOM

Yeah, it looked like a future GOAT midfield with Jaeger, Bennel, Prestia and Swallow.

Unfortunetly all of them have been cruelled by injuries, and only Swallow stayed.

Completely forgot about Swallow as well, man, they really sucked all the highly rated WA talent right up and ****ed it all up didn’t they?

Strangely WA has really struggled to produce anything close to the midfield talent of Cogs, Swallow, JOM and Bennell in a long time. After Cripps in like 2013, there’s been no one for like 7 years (Warner) that has been anywhere that talent. Johnson and Ras hopefully to join them

I remember playing one game of interschool footy against Swallow and that guy was just unreal- even at 15 years old. The phrase "streets ahead of everyone else" doesn't even begin to describe just how good he was. He is the one player I played against in 10 years of football as a kid that you just knew was going to play AFL.

Jesus I didn't even realise they had that level of talent! Based on this I feel like a b22 of Gold Coast would almost be invincible!

Yeah they sure did. It's pretty sad to think what may have happened with their careers if they started at more proffesional football clubs. Even Jack Martin as well. It can't be a coincidence that all of these players have ended up with major injury problems.

That WA generation was incredible wasn't it. I hadn't actually thought about the lack of mid talent since then until you mentioned it. It's is quite strange. I'm very confident with Johnson, fingers crossed with Ras.
