One of the seminal moments of Coney Island's debut season came in our round 10 match with the Dragons when the Whore Tree first sprouted, thanks to the combined efforts of Frankston Rover invinciBlues & jenny61_99 (hi Jenny!).

I'm not one to reinvent wheels or anything really, so here's a whole thread which talks about the origins of the Whore Tree:

Talk about making a mark in your first season hey? When an over-sexed tree is a key pillar of your club's heritage, you know you've achieved something of significance. So you can take your premierships and stick them up your blurter 'cos we've got home ground foliage that's more Horne than Francis!!!​

After that famous first victory in round one of season 18 the Warriors split the remaining home and away games to finish the regular season with a record of 9 wins and 8 losses, which was good enough to finish in 6th position on the ladder and, as a result, qualify for finals at the first attempt! The Roys were the other team with a 9-8 record that season who, thanks to an inferior percentage, finished in 7th place and were therefore drawn to play an elimination final at Van Cortlandt Park.

The week began with fitzroybowiedog performing a one-man show for the likes of BigJoeD_, OrdinaryJoel, zackah, Frankston Rover, @Sydneys Bloods, Lord_Flashheart, alex_is_on_fire, Smoooothy, eaglesfan99, Stronzo, Reginald Perrin and a poem-reciting fella by the name of El Dubya:

And your teammates with the intelligence of a log.

I'm applying to leave my fetid school,
Where even the brightest pupil is a fool,
And we really are in a genetic cesspool,
This poem is to procrastinate.

The other Roys appeared including Mooch Mobbs 3KZ is Football and the late great Fred, as did a young Bear named DemonJim who wanted to start a fight because he was angry about his team winning the wooden spoon in their first season back in the SFA (which I'm sure had nothing to do with the captaincy of pantskyle). This was entertaining for a bit before the home team got bored.

The Roys are making me fall alseep.

I'm heading for the whore tree, that should keep me up.

Well, after a fantastic first season the Coney Island Warriors are into their first finals series. I'd just like to thank everyone involved over the season for their help, their posting and most of all, making it a lot of fun. We have exceeded all expectations and I expect that to continue on Sunday when we belt the Roys. Good luck to everyone and let's keep the Warriors season going.

The big day arrived and Coney Island's first ever final had begun. Roy kicked a goal within the first minute (sound familiar anyone??) however that's where their joy ended. Seven first quarter goals to two, including three from Norm Landrover, has the Warriors up by 33 points at the first break. Roy's joy however returned in the second stanza, kicking 8 goals to 3 to reduce the margin to three points at the main break.

The third quarter belonged to Sydney Bloods thanks to four goals, helping extend the Wazza lead to 22 points at the final change, only for the visitors to rally yet again. It was in vain though, with a late zackah goal sealing a 13 point victory.

Plenty of Wazzas had good games including zackah El Dubya oogac & Haduken, but there were two standouts - the prophetic BigJoeD_ in the ruck who had 37 disposals/19 hitouts/5 tackles & 2 goals, and the guy he prophecised about in Sydney Bloods who kicked 8 goals straight!

Roys, because you were good sports you can come along, we have plenty of blue pills at the bar.

And they're dancing in the streets in NYC!

And today I learned that the Warriors have a club song!

We ended up going down in the semi final the following week, but it was one helluva debut season for the Coney Island Warriors!
