Mackems have been in winning positions in their last few only to concede and drop vital points. 6 points (basically 7 with their poor GD) from safety with 3 games to go - 2 of those are against the top 3. Wolves who've already been promoted but will want to secure the title and Mitro's Fulham - maybe the Mackem Slayer will have the honour of sending them down! :D

Have a sneaky feeling we have a chance of getting something against Arsenal tonight too.

We're in some strong form and they have a few injury clouds while we've got a clean bill of health. Team is full of confidence, no big pressure hanging over us to get a result given the breathing space we have on the relegation battle will help. They had a Europa match on Thursday too over in Moscow. If there was ever a time to strike while the irons hot, this is as good as it gets.

Rafa has brought a fractured and disjointed club and supporter base back together. Players, fans and local media all on the same page after another relegation and years of disillusionment and turned them into a united and proud team again. He's done it all despite Mike Ashley still owning the club and effectively tying his hands in the transfer market too.

Just imagine what the man could do with a decent owner willing to see the club progress...

In case you missed the news - and in a season that seems to get better by each passing weekend, the Mackems have been relegated to League One (third tier).

Almost in a perfect Hollywood comedic fashion too.

Setting:
  • SAFC fans take the mick out of NUFC fans for years under Ashley's regime praising his ownership and direction of the club under his rule.
  • 'All hail agent Ashley' as he alienates club legends like Keegan and Shearer while making calamitous decision after calamitous decision. Sports Direct Arena anyone?
  • They win 6 derbies in a row.
Flashback 2 seasons:
  • NUFC is relegated from the PL while SAFC survive.
  • SAFC fans taunt NUFC fans with quips of 'enjoy Burton away' and 'Rafa Beneathus'. They fly a plane over St James' Park on the final day with an 'auf wiedersehen banner' and hang bed sheet banners on bridges in Newcastle mocking the relegation.
Flashback 1 year:
  • NUFC are promoted and eventually go up as champions.
  • SAFC fans scoff at the achievement saying 'would rather lose games in the PL than win games in the championship' and 'if we were playing Burton and Rotherham, we'd win the league easily'
  • SAFC ultimately relegated (no derby wins to help them).
  • SAFC fans predict a speedy return 'we won't be in the championship long!'
Present day:
  • NUFC are safe in the PL and a chance for a top 10 finish.
  • SAFC have a slim chance of survival following a disappointing season, ownership issues and fans abandoning the club in droves.
  • They are playing at home and need a win to give themselves a fighting chance. They are playing a fellow relegation battler....Burton Albion.
  • SAFC take the lead and are leading up to the 85th minute on course for 3 vital points and a result that would all but consign Burton to relegation...
  • Former SAFC striker Darren Bent is introduced as a sub to widespread boos in the 73rd minute. His mother was racially abused by a SAFC fan during his time at the club and was ultimately hounded out.
  • Bent equalises in the 86th minute.
  • Burton score again in the 91st minute to take a shock 2-1 lead.
  • SAFC think they equalise in the 95th minute but the goal is disallowed.
  • Whistle is blown after the 96th minute, results elsewhere see Sunderland relegated to League One.
Like the grand daddy all of karma. Couldn't write a better script if you tried.

Remove the photo of that fat campaigner and you have nailed my love of this

Fair to say that was a good season for us! Top 10 finish is an incredible achievement given the outlook at the start of the season and how we were tracking just prior to Christmas. Great way to finish the season too with a 3-0 win over last season's PL champions.

Rafa is truly a genius and worked something very special with us. Easily the best manager we've had in well over 10 years.

Hopefully we can get him to sign a new deal and lock him down - West Ham and a few other clubs reportedly are sniffing about.

The summer will hopefully see Cashley sell up shop (though he reportedly has upped the price to $400m from $350m) - typical of the grub, gambles we can stay up and withholds funds to strengthen the squad last summer and now will think our top 10 squad is not in dire need of investment and keep a tight lid on spending again).

Hopefully Dubravka is signed soon and Kenedy can be swayed to join (reportedly Chelsea may want $20m which might push him out of our price range). Need to keep Lascelles especially - maybe the silver lining of him missing out on WC selection is he slips off the radar a bit of the big clubs.

Dubravka joins permanently after his loan. Good stuff. Looked quality between the sticks and only cost a reported 4m to sign.

Good bit of business IMO.

Outta nowhere like a Randy Orton RKO, we have our second signing. Ki from Swansea signed on a free transfer. South Korea's captain too. Might mean Merino is off to Spain unfortunately.

Also, he is showing off our new home kit. This pic also surfaced a few days ago and could be our new away kit. Retro throwback to the classic 95/96 shirt (just minus the newy brown ale logo lol).

Away kit. We haven't had many good away kits since the 2000s but this is up there with the better ones.

Kenedy sighted in Newcastle too with a season loan with option to buy likely to be confirmed shortly.

Been a while since I've posted in here haha. Been a few changes (unfortunately not of the frustrating Mike Ashley variety though).

Out:

  • Mitro 22m
  • Merino 10m
  • Mbemba 8m
  • Sels 4m
Total: 44m ~

In:
  • Ki (free)
  • Dubravka (4m)
  • Schar (3m)
  • Kenedy (loan fee maybe 2m?)
  • Muto (9.5m - subject to work permit).
Total: 18.5m ~

Lejeune has done a knee and is out until 2019. Hayden wants to move down south for family reasons and we still need cover at LB, a CB (to cover Lejeune's injury), a 10 to compete with Perez and maybe another striker.

Latest rumours are Gayle plus 3m for Rondon.

Just comical to think we are supposedly haggling over so many transfers but Cashley can afford to offer Rafa's services to the Spanish FA and make 50m loans to department stores.

Not yet, but we can build

First thing I would do is pour money into the training facilities and club before players to make us stronger and build a culture for guys in a few years
