Good to see the Liberals taking the opportunity of a by-election in a safe seat for them to inject some diversity into their lineup.

Reminder that Simon Kennedy failed to win Bennelong (good old John Howard's old seat) at the last election.

Unfortunately he is a sure thing for Cook.

Someone the boss pays to talk to staff and recommend exactly what internal staff would have said but costs a fortune, looks prettier, is shallow and is somehow more trustworthy because it is a consultant saying it not the internal expert.

Very good point, the last report we got from one of them had lots of buzzwords and graphs and in ten pages came to the earth shattering recommendations that 1) we should put more important data on the better servers and 2) we should give them a contract to ask us what our most important data was. Cost per page $1.24M.

Has the Victorian Liberals ever done a review of the 2018 and 2022 Victorian state election defeats, or is it placed in the 'too hard to do' basket? And seeing the jungle drums are beating loudly about the real chance of Victorian Opposition Leader John Pesutto possibly facing a leadership challenge, who'd in their right mind would want to put his/her hand up to be the leader of the Victorian Liberals, with very little or no chance of regaining government from Labor in 2026?

And if things go balls up they move on to the next gig and the boss is not accountable.

Love this analogy. While specifically targeted at the upcoming nuclear reactors announcement by Dutton, it gets to the very heart of two issues of greatest concern to our democracy:

1. The failure of the alternative government to come up with realistic and relevant policy options around issues of immediate concern to our country; and

2. The systemic failure of the Australian media to act as anything other than partisan publicists and promoters of empty rhetoric.
