I can relate to this post, both the footy comments and the ones about seeing the true colour of someone’s personality if money is involved.

Agree with you for the most part Monocle. Sledging was really a great part of playing footy at whatever level.
Repercussions if someone went over the line were a lot easier back then as well.
I'm almost certain if someone wished you're Mum died when she has cancer would've triggered you and all out brawl.
Same as Phil, better left armer than Mitch Johnson...banter on the cricket field was standard...everyone is basically a c### until afterplay.
It was a grand thing....but Zorko was a grub & stepped over that line, if what he is reported to have said is true.
He would've been in hospital back in the footy days..and Phil or someone wouldve knocked his head off in cricket.
