In all honesty its more likely the RDFL clubs will seperate and join alternate leagues.
Woodend & Macendon join the MCDFNL
Centrals & Rockbank WRFL
Wallan back to NFL
Diggers Rest EDFL
Riddell, Lancefield & Romsey are the more difficult clubs to place geographically, but i suppose a trip to Castelmaine is no further than Rockbank..
My main concern is Diggers, Wallan and Rockbank moving to metro leagues. That would be the death of the league. Diggers is ripe for the picking for EDFL. I just don’t understand the huge attraction, maybe I’m old school but the country/community atmosphere of a country league is better than a small crowd EDFL high spending league. Much better standard tho.
The loss that hurt for me was Sunbury kangas, great RDFL who very much suited the league.
Maybe I’m a bit different but for me I never felt Rupo was the right fit for the RDFL. Private school club who recruit and have a great relationship with Salesian. They were always going to out grow the RDFL thru shear weight of players in juniors. How can small towns like Lancefield compete with Rupo. Would much rather them go into the BFL Personally as the EDFL is a ruthless league that needs much bigger spending than an RDFL salary to be a top premier team but at least they have a vision. It’s a better fit for them I think EDFL than RDFL and good luck to them. What happens to there strong Saturday netball teams?
