Isn't having quotas at the heart of the movement?




That's the trouble with any quota system, you are essentially broadcasting that if you're not a straight white male you're not able to achieve on your own merits.

My work has annual awards for various categories, they still have a "women achiever" of the year award. That's despite the majority of awards going to women, women can more than compete against men yet they have the condescending woman only category. Quite strange.

I don't have a problem with "woman of the year" or whatever.

It's when they start giving those awards / places to men who say they are women that I have a problem.

Yeah, I don't buy that. I don't see a lot of quotas. But it would be interesting to see why a company or political party would want to use them.

Meh, I think we're still at a stage where successful role models are valuable for women and girls. I'm not exercised about that.

As I thought, the mum being asked to leave the comedy show was nothing to do with breastfeeding (she wasn't), it was about the noise the baby was generating - the mothers an idiot.
