Player Watch Father-Son Pick #25 (2019) - Jackson Mead

I like Jackson Mead as a potential good to great player. I'm probably alone on this but imo there's something

about him bubbling away that just needs to be given a decent go.
He’s has no outstanding attribute. He won’t play this year unless gifted games and will be off the list in 1-2 years.
he’s a plodder at best, had decent skills and that’s it. Lack of pace means he has no chance to play midfield.

he Will be a good player at sanfl level and that’s his ceiling..imo

Screams Sydney midfielder, Jude Bolton, Brett Kirk, Kieran Jack, Tom Mitchell mould, blue chipped vanilla honest, dogged, pig in the trough type operator who play in more winning sides than they do losing ones.

He is no Palmer, Farmer or McIntee

you've named some stars of the game, 300 gamers, B&Fs and spiritual leaders.. he wouldnt carry any of their bags.

No point sugar coating it, hes not much more than a backup in case of numerous injuries.

hes ahead of mcentee cause he has absolutely no attributes.

the other 2 u mentioned were rubbish as well, but we hung on to them (way too long)in hope when you could see from day dot they werent much good.

so yes hes better than mcentee, palmer and farmer not that it is saying much!

Even if he was a reasonable player, which I don't think he is, he is still a back up. We have heaps of high quality young midfielders.

He's not better than JHF, Butters or Rozee. He doesn't have the potential or flexibility of a Duursma, Bergman or Sinn. He's sort of at that Drew level, but even Drew has played some good AFL football and has his niche as a defensive midfielder.

The only hope for him is that some other club are desperate for young midfielders and give him game time. Maybe a West Coast.

Meady's outstanding attribute is his two sided kicking. His short to medium kicks are precise with either foot. As for pace, he's medium paced, not slow. He's quicker than Drew and Ollie and quite sharp over the first ten metres. From what I saw of him at training this pre-season he's fitter and more confident than at any stage to date. Don't forget that he's had a very interrupted AFL career and missed a lot of time playing. He sits just outside the best 22 at this stage but he's good enough to cement a spot when he gets a decent chance.

Needs to bring a bit of that to the AFL team. Has the skills smart player lack of leg speed hurts.
To be fair he isn’t roving to a bloke who hits to advantage, the call may be beautiful from Lycett but that was Hayes hitting it to a bloke on the moves advantage although he was out of position in the Ruck contest.

But we are plying Teakle?

Apparently Hawthorn and Fremantle were the other 2 clubs that talked to Jackson Mead during his draft year with an interest to draft him.

Mead being played on a wing at SANFL level due to the Duursma injury.

Maybe he could be that small annoying wingman like Kym Kinnear. Although no one could be as annoying as Kinnear.

26 disposals, 8 tackles and a goal this week.
