ROUND ELEVEN

NORTH MELBOURNE KANGAROOS
North_Melbourne_Football_Club_Logo.png

Combine North Melbourne with a team from another sport - rugby league, American football, soccer, netball, anything (except Australian Rules). However, there must be some sort of connection between the teams - mascot, name, colours, location, or something more creative.

Each entry must include at least one sports uniform - most likely an Australian Rules guernsey, but possibly a kit from the other sport chosen. Away jumpers, clash jumpers, preseason jumpers, special one-off promotional jumpers, and team logos can also be included.

Maximum five entries per person; one image per entry.

The competition is scheduled to conclude on Monday 14 March, however entries can be submitted until the polls are created.

North Melbourne Kangaroos
(North Melbourne and Australia national rugby league team)

Connection:
Both teams have a Kangaroo as the mascot/nickname, both teams are Australian and both teams have/had a jumper with a V design.

Colours:
The colours are dark blue, light blue and yellow.

NorthMelbourneKangaroosLogo.png

Home Jumper
The home jumper is based off the current North Melbourne jumper but with light blue replacing the white.

NorthMelbourneKangaroosHomeJumper.png

Away Jumper
The away jumper is based off the original North Melbourne V jumper worn between 1925 and 1932 but with light blue replacing the white.

NorthMelbourneKangaroosAwayJumper.png

Clash Jumper
The clash jumper features the old North Melbourne logo used between 1983 and 2006, the jumper also has a yellow and blue curved side panel.

North - Australian Kangaroos. Link is the use of a kangaroo as a mascot. Designs all speak for themselves

NORTH MELBOURNE GIANTS

Connection: the North Melbourne Kangaroos and former NBL team North Melbourne Giants have the same locality name. (You all knew that. ;))

NMGiants.png

Went a bit simple here - may add to the design but at this stage, this is how it looks:

HOME: Roos' stripes in Giants' final colours of teal and white (with some purple, ~1994-98). The purple comes from the Charlotte Hornets logo... the Giants' teal was more greeny though.

AWAY: Roos' stripes in Giants' previous colours of gold and maroon (1987-~92). I would have used a Roos away strip but they're all dominated by the kangaroo and the old Giant mascot is too thin.

HERITAGE: Roos' heritage (1925-32) in Coburg Giants colours. Coburg was a founding member of the NBL in 1979 and played in green during the 1986 series; their logo was green and gold.

Against Hawthorn the home jumper is always to be worn. Either away or heritage can be worn against Collingwood if a clash is deemed (as both have white stripes).

North Melbourne Kangaroos & Australia Kangaroos (Rugby League)
KANGAROOS F.C.

kangarooslogo.png

Yet another combination with the Australian Rugby League team; again, because both teams share the kangaroo as a mascot.

kangarooshome.png
The home jumper is based on the double vee worn by Australia since 1929 with North's royal blue and white. The jumper also has similarities to North's original vee design worn from 1925 to 1932.

kangaroosclash.png
The clash jumper is the same design as the home jumper, but features the pale blue of North's current clash jumper.

kangaroosheritage.png
The heritage jumper is based on Australia's blue and maroon jumper worn from 1908 to 1924, and then again in the 2008 centenary of Rugby league. Instead of blue and maroon (which represented NSW and Queensland respectively), this design features the two shades of blue used by North Melbourne.

Thats 3 for the Rugby Kangaroos already...

I'm not too surprised. There's not too many other teams that have kangaroo mascots, especially since it's an almost exclusively Australian animal. But at least all three designs are different.

North Melbourne Kangaroos & Western Reds (Rugby League)
NORTH WEST REDS

northwestredslogo.png

The Western Reds were Perth's team in the ARL and then Super League. They are currently playing in the WARL and are bidding to play in the NRL. Like North Melbourne, they have a kangaroo mascot.

northwestredshome.png
The home jumper is based on the Western Red's jumper from 1995-6. The design also has similarities with North Melbourne's away jumper from 1996-2002 - namely the yoke and kangaroo. However, the kangaroo is now facing west (left).

northwestredsdarkclash.png
The dark clash jumper is based on the Western Red's jumper from 1997.

northwestredspreseason.png
The preseason jumper is based the Western Red's current jumper - grey with a red vee. Grey is also found in North's 2003-4 preseason jumper. Furthermore, having the logo at the tip of vee is similar to North's 2007-8 clash jumper.

northmilwaukee.png

North Melbourne + Milwaukee Bucks = North Milwaukee Bucks.

Right Click + View image for full size

Both teams are the least valuable in their respective leagues
North Melbourne need more "Bucks" :p

The Home (first uniform) - is inspired by Milwaukee's 2001 - 2006 regular uniform, with Milwaukee's red and green collar/cuffs, and North's Blue and White.

The Clash (Middle) - is based on North's "Argentina" clash, with the pale green replacing the pale blue. Stylised antlers and side panels represent Milwaukee in this design, along with the red collar.

The Away (Last) - is based upon North's V design from 1925 - 1932. The antler V also creates a Milwaukee green yoke inside the V.

North Melbourne Kangaroos & North Queensland Cowboys (Rugby League)
NORTH QUEENSLAND ROOBOYS

northqueenslandrooboysl.png

Both North Melbourne and North Queensland are teams based in the north. Combining "Cowboys" and "Kangaroos" creates North's nickname - the "Rooboys". The Rooboys' team colours are blue, grey, and white, which have been worn by North Queensland (along with yellow) and North Melbourne (see 2003-4 preseason/clash).

northqueenslandrooboysh.png
The home jumper is based on the vertical stripes of North Melbourne's home jumper.

northqueenslandrooboysa.png
The away jumper is based on North Queensland's away jumper.

northqueenslandrooboysp.png
The pre-season jumper is a dark version of the away jumper.

northqueenslandrooboys.png

Yet another rugby league combination...

North Melbourne Kangaroos & North Sydney Bears (Rugby League)
CENTRAL COAST KANGAROOS

centralcoastkangarooslo.png

Both North Melbourne and North Sydney are in the northern suburbs of the central city of their league and sports - Melbourne and Sydney respectively. Both teams were also threatened with relocations further north - North Melbourne to the Gold Coast, and North Sydney to the Central Coast, which seems likely to happen if they re-enter the NRL.

centralcoastkangaroosho.png
The home jumper is based on North Sydney's jumper - horizontal red and black stripes - however the red has been replaced by North Melbourne's blue. The stripes - albeit horizontal ones rather than vertical - can also be seen as a reference to North Melbourne's home jumper.

centralcoastkangaroosaw.png
The away jumper is a predominantly white version of the home jumper. The blue and white colour colour scheme further represents North Melbourne.

centralcoastkangaroos.png

Maybe the polling groups should feature one with rugby league entries and the other with everything else...

Entry #1

North Melbourne Kangaroos + Buffalo Sabres = North Melbourne Sabres

Connection: Both teams logos feature national symbols of their respective countries (Kangaroo and Buffalo)

All three guernseys and logo feature North Melbourne's blue and Buffalo's yellow, both teams have used silver as an accent colour so it is also used).

The home and clash guernseys are based on Buffalo's jerseys.

The clash is based on the current away but the stripes on the socks are reversed compared to the body as the original buffalo jersey featured reversed stripes on the sleeves which originated as a mistake made by the jersey manufacturer before the first game but due to a lack of time to correct it and the also fans liking the design it was kept (the current design has the same stripes on the body and arms to the slight disappointment of the fans).

The Away is a modified version of the Buffalo heritage with the stripes rotated from horizontal to vertical to represent North Melbourne's guernsey.

NorthMelbourneSabres.png

North Melbourne Kangaroos & Wallabies (Rugby Union)
NORTH MELBOURNE WALLABIES

northmelbournewallabies.png

Both North Melbourne and the Wallabies have similar macropod mascots.

northmelbournewallabies.png
The home jumper combines the vertical stripes of North Melbourne with the green and gold of the Wallabies.

northmelbournewallabies.png
The clash jumper is based on North Melbourne's clash jumper, but with pale green rather than pale blue.

northmelbournewallabies.png
The pre-season jumper is based on the Wallabies jumper - gold with green piping, and features the team logo (rather than the Southern Cross).

northmelbournewallabies.png

My first entry:

North Melbourne Kangaroos + Socceroos (Soccer) =
Australian Kangaroos

Connection: Both have 'roos' in name

Colours:
Green and Gold

Home:
Based off the North Melbourne guernsey but recoloured in the Socceroos colours.

AustralianKangaroosHome.png

Away:
Based off the North Melbourne clash from 2007-08 but replacing North logo with the southern cross in the side of the 'v'.

AustralianKangaroosAway.png

Logo:
Recoloured of the current North logo.

Here is a simplified Australian flag I found on the internet for if any of youse ever want to use it.

Damn, one I had designed for this comp months ago used the Akron Zips! Rather than compete with a very similar concept, I'll have to think outside the box and come up with another connection and design.

North Melbourne + North Carolina Tar Heels:thumbsu:

Connection: Both teams have light blue and white in there jersey and both have " North" in there name.

Home, based on the Roo's home with NC colour shceme (or the roo's argentina strip):
gyfhgfd.png

Away, based on the 1996-2002 away jersey but with stripes not cut off and a different colour shceme:
yuyt.png

Heritage, based on the 1925-1932 home jersey but with the NC logo on the right of the "V" (like hawthorn) also added side panals :

Gocats, damn you, that was my next one :p Might still do it though.
Sepul, go for it, we've had three for the rugby kangaroos already, and probably more coming
