NSW is probably the weakest of the mainland States, not including the NT.

Wonder how the whole Allies team will stack up against SA and WA this year. However most of QLD's top talents are U17's this year, so the make of the Allies team will be interesting.

We don't have any first rounders lined up this year I don't think, but the Swans Academy seems to have a few players who will get drafted.

The bottom ager yet again tops the lions and game disposal count as he pushes his case to be one of the best 07s in the country.

Tom Gillett also solidifies himself as the most draftable talent coming out of the academy this year. The ruck/fwd has his best game for the year.

The draft age player did himself no harm putting in a massive output.

Ty Gallop is Jed Walter like, thrives on fwd 50 pressure and pick pack marks and did exactly that today.

Draft smokey Wyatt Greenaway was 3rd best behind Annable and Gillet having a day out.

I believe he is 4th in line behind Gillett, Gallop and Gilder as the most draftable player this year.

On the other hand highly touted 2007 product Raphael Geesu seemed to struggle having little impact.

Ty Gallop??

Jack Harrison?

Didn't make final squad. Definitely has far more talent than many that did, 2025 will be huge for him

Sorry Ty Gallop should be in the Allies list, keep thinking the kid is 05. Freakish talent. Was elite today from memory 3.4 and clunked just about everything.

With that in mind. Draftable Talents for me go, Gillett, Gallop, Gilder, Greenaway. (GGGG).

With Harrison, an elite talent who loves to dominate club. Struggled over preseason and struggled with form in practice matches. For sure could be in the squad, but with the strength of the team not sure he would get a game.

Saw Lions gave Harry Grills and Jordie Chambers first games…..how did they go

Both had really solid days.

Harrison Grills owned his wing dominating alongside Wyatt, a really productive day for the first gamer.

And with Jordie Chambers he had a solid performance playing as a deeper back.

Both lads really impressed proving how the lions have made it a structure-based team and how many could just walk into this team and perform.

Unsure anyone loves to dominate club and turns into a different player elsewhere. Perhaps environmental factors about why people don't enjoy their footy and appear disconnected need to be considered. I've barely seen this kid play, other than when he was in the QLD side in u15s and last years L2 carnival, but I find it hard to believe he went from being an AA u15 calibre player and must have been close to AA u16 last year (just needed to hit the scoreboard more, but as a high half forward he was elite in every other capacity) to not being in the best 30.

While this years side is probably as good as they have ever been, sounds like the environment and the way some players are treated hasn't changed much. They mark their cards early, then keep them in the program for 2 more months for no real reason other than to finish off the job of destroying their confidence.

Actual game play and monitoring which players get a go in what position in that game play doesn't not play anywhere near enough of a role in their selection. Training habits, and ability to say the right things, hit the buzz word bingo and train well seems to have 90% of the weight, instead of the ability to actually play the game.

They will claim they do heaps of match sim, then judge a midfielders output after sitting him in the back pocket for 90% of their match sim. (yes, they all say they are mids, but they should all get opporunity to play preferred spot in match sim)

Grills didn't dominate. He sat on the outside and cashed in on a dominant midfield. He was impressive though, but you could have sat any highly talented 15-17 year old on that wing and got the same or similar outcome.

Hey mate, with Harrison, i called him an elite talent who loves to dominate clubs, didn't say anything about how he turns into a different player. As you said the environment and the high standards catch people out, hence why we had boys drop out during preseason. Also it isn't out of the blue to see "close to AA players" drop their standards and underperform, this is what has happened with Harrison.

In terms of your comments about selection, players are given more than enough opportunity to prove and play in positions they ask to. Would love to hear what midfielders were placed in a back pocket and didnt have the opportunity to prove their talent.

Now to Grills, for a first gamer where typically our wings have struggled having 15 touches 8 marks and a couple snags is pretty handy. Pretty rough for you to discredit a winger for sitting on the outside as that is his role.
