THIRTY NINE shots on goal. That is more than alarming for our mids and defence. No wonder our defenders kick stats are up… 25 just from kick ins.

Not exactly a star-studded Carlton side we were playing against.

Assuming he's the reason Dunstan was told he'd be playing twos all year. Now we're in a spot where we need to keep playing Dunstan to maintain some sort of value in FA

Hanners def shouldn’t be playing in the seniors this year now . He’s part of the reason we’re not playing finals so now it’s confirmed he can wait until next year while we learn more about the kids .

They have blown the season , so bring in players - Joyce , Clav , Bytel , Lonie , Coffield , Hanners and play Hunter because we need the higher draft pick.

Who cares whether he’s better than Dunstan or not. Our season is shot and he is the future, just play him. Hope Ratts has the balls to be looking at the future now, and honestly, what’s the point of playing for ninth?

yeah honestly in terms of development that's likely better than the AFL right now. Let him consistently get 30-40 possessions with an all australian midfielder next to him. A month of that leading into the preseason and he'll come back built for the AFL.

You could do an awful lot worse.

Unless one of Steele, Crouch or Dunstan miss, it’s not super-likely that Jack will come in.

And if Hanners gets through the next two weeks unscathed I expect he’ll come in for the Geelong game, which will mean there’s one less spot for Bytel.

Also there’s room for him to experiment with different roles like trying to develop other weapons like outside game and forward craft. Offers as much as Byrnes playing inside in the seniors but Byrnes has the ability to kick goals and run and carry on the outside. If he can add some more strings to his bow he makes it easier to get picked

The season is gone, a 1 week rest for the inside mids (split across the 3 weeks) and Bytel can fit. Have to play him.

Well, one has been averaging high 20s for disposals, been one of our best clearance players, played on the oppositions best midfielder and gotten out 2nd most coaches votes this year. The other currently struggles to impact for a full game and can only play 1 position in the side where they are currently 3-5 others who are in front of him.

Yes can't wait to see Bytel get stuck into games and agree he has way more upside than Spook, but Dunstan has played either well or very well since he came in. Even his so called games gone missing against WC and Carlton were better than what you would expect Bytel to produce

Bytel is the future. Dunstan will be gone to a team that will give him a regular game. I think he’ll see Bytel and Byrnes and possibly Clark coming in and realise he’s not going to be an automatic selection.

Let’s get three more tough games under Bytel‘s belt. He is the one we are going to need to be a big improver next season. We’re not making finals even if Dunstan plays, so let’s go with the future.

For the same reason, I hope Hanners doesn’t play either. What’s the point?

He won't get experience languishing in the two's. Byrnes and Connelly get multiple games while Bytel is killing it in the two's but doesn't get a look in while our mids get flogged.
Dunstan looked great in the two's and deserved his recall and went well for a few games.
WCE found us out easily because Dunstan can't spread. Carlton did the same.

Dunstan is the past, Bytel needs some games for experience, but the coach likes to sacrifice some of our prospects like he has done for Battle

Hope this is a joke, Dunstan has bern in the system 8 years and over a 100 games. Bytel gets thrown in as a medical sub after a handful of games.
Dunstan was more vanilla than Billings on the weekend was totally ineffectual.

Why do we want to sacrifice our young talent to keep giving games to someone who wont be there next year. Play the kids FFS, not players who have failed us time and again.

Let people remember his purple patch of 4 games, because his last two haven’t been the same standard.

I like Luke, I’m definitely not a hater, but let’s be frank, he’s not our future.

You'd play Dunstan because he didn't have a bad game. What message would that send. Crouch has had 2 poor weeks he'd surely go out first. I guess that's one way to get rid of Dunstan though.

The coach has been picking the best midfield set up. Bytel wasn't picked because he didnt warrant selection over Dunstan.

He doesnt just get handed a game because he is young. Making his actually earn his spot and play multiple good games in a row in the VFL won't hurt his development.
