Just watch these two fairweather friends suck and crawl to get back to Channel 9 who started their careers in TV. Dunstall trying to get his own TV program again and as usual, failing in the ratings and Dermie chasing the dollars just as he did by walking out on Hawthorn and going to Sydney ( beats me why the Hawthorn mob revere him, he is only wanting more of the money and nothing more ). Anyway, watch these two rats jump as quickly as possible.

No one will employ Dunstall.

Good Riddance to the lump of lard

Well as for Brereton, 1989 comes to mind, but I agree with Mags who said he'll get back with nine, at least in the wardrobe dept. And all those who whinged about bruce get their wish and have Eddie all weekend instead.

It's not over til the fat lady sings - the great old Mr. Hunt quoted.

You watch, Rex will doing the job for channel by - accompanied by Steve Quartemain/Eddie Mcguire... you just wait people, then you will have the evidence that homework_boy is a mastermind!

I have heard that Dermott had a get-out clause in his contract should Channel Nine get the football rights.

I'd suggest that all non-olympic football callers would be sounded out by the new rights owners.

What ever happened to Andrew Startin ???????

He was employed by Channel 7 for Live and Kicking (ha! remember that?) but I haven't seen him since. Maybe he might try and worm his way back to Nine for the footy show?

Andrew Startin had the job as warm-up guy at Colonial earlier in the year. From memory he was reprimanded because he was doing his Sam Newman impersonation on the big screen, and that didn't go down too well with the Channel 7 honchos. I don't recall seeing him there during the latter stages of the season.

If Dermie want's to stay in Football commentary, then he will be at 10 or Foxtel. I think his Channel 9 bridge is burnt!

BTW JubJub, I was watching 'All Star Squares' this week before the tennis started. Andrew Startin was one of the 'All Stars'. Therefore, he must still be contracted by Ch 7, but on 'Special Projects'!

Yesterday's man!

This is a hallucination and these faces are in a dream. A computer generated environment; a fantasy island you can do anything and not have to face the consequences.

Those ALL STAR SQUARES episodes are about 3 or 4 years old.

Perhaps It's time for Dermie to coach ! After all If it doensn't go well he's more likely to end up like 'Timmy' (back in at the top of Ch7) than Robert Shaw (never heard of again)

But what about Dipper ? surely he must be kept on somewhere ? - He's bigger than the game itself !)

Dunstall seems to be on a bit of a sticky wicket anyway but He might be one to become a coach also - grumpiness is an asset there.

I honestly think alot of you guys will be very surprised about exactly who will be commentating for the new consortium next year.

Expect to see a few new faces

Expect to see some old faces back again (Lou Richards for one)

... and perhaps most surprisiongly, expect to see VERY FEW ex-Channel Seven people calling the footy for the new consortium.

No Brereton
No Dunstall
No McAveney
No Robertson
No Watson
No Morphett
etc etc

Denis Cometti is one guy you may see more of in 2002 and I'll bet the rather excellent Anthony Hudson will be offered a job too.

As for the others - well, would you give any of them a job ?

I wouldn't

cheers

With 9 and 10 and Foxtel having their own panels of footy callers and some new shows I think that most of the younger guys will get picked up. I can't see 9, 10 and Foxtel sharing commentators although 9 may try and rotate commentators per quarter.

Assuming 2 matches to be called by 10 on Saturdays that would mean 3 callers in the commentary box and 1 perhaps 2 on the field associated with each team for each game. There would also probably be a single commentator at each of the other games.
Commetti and Hudson have already been approached by 10 and I think Sandy Roberts will also go there. As 10 has all the finals for the next 5 years I think it will take the cream.

Foxtel would have a similar set up for its 3 matches without boundary input so that's another 9 broadcast callers and probably a single commentator at the other matches.

Channel 9 already has some commentators signed up with McGuire, Lyon, Newman, Taylor Kekovich etc. and only broadcasts 1 match on Friday and 2 on Sunday so Eddie could do both days unless 9 gets McAveney.

BUBBALOUIS - got any idea on why Bruce quit Sportsworld? Was it his choice or Sevens?

From reports it seems they were saving him for other projects? But i think it runs deeper than that, i watched a bit of Sportsworld on Sunday and whilst im sure it will get better, i think it was lacking something without Bruce. He has tried to cut back some of his commitments in the last couple of years, moving back to Adelaide to live and starting a young family. But i cant believe he is happy about not doing Sportsworld. I unlike some posters on bigfooty believe Bruce is an exceptional performer and hope he does go to Nine. Anyway GoEagles sorry i cant be of any more help on the subject perhaps someone else has better gossip
