How did ____ go on the weekend?

Why not consult the Alesana Player Video Database.

Of course not, but if we're to trial him at FB he'd get ragdolled in the AFL vs WAFL.
Shanahan looks a certainty to be a KFWD in a couple of years, as others discussed his elite goal kicking and marking look excellent.
It's his to win and lose going forward but he is not ready yet.

A Reid on the other hand looks to be the athletic freak that can play KP in all 3 parts of the ground.
He may just be our next ruck in making and is progressing rapidly in the shadow of a L Jackson type.
He may end up back in time if he doesn't progress in the ruck or his goal kicking, but he is a serious talent for such a young player.
I would persist with his ruck/fwd craft and see where it goes.

The fact that JW seems to have been surpassed by A Reid means there is probably a rethink going on in his best position, he would be the next player that I would try at FB.
He has the marking ability, contested marking ability, footy IQ, his only limiting factor maybe his athletic ability that's why I can see a FB taking on the big bodied KFWD players close to goal.
If it fails he will be a depth KFWD.

I think Barnett isn't progressing at all and doesn't appear to be making any position his in any of our sides, Brock has gone past him and looks more than capable to take a CHB position in time with a little more size put on and his athleticism makes him the perfect CHB imo.

I agree with most of those things, however I think it'll be hard to spin him going back to the WAFL to play FB with the reward form culture we're trying to build is all. It may occur out of necessity though. 🤷‍♂️

I think it will be through necessity, Barnett is a bust I think and if WC see him in their long term future he has the ability to play FB imo.
Its either that or JW decides he is a KFWD depth player.

It's not like Shanahan doesn't still have loads to work on in the WAFL.

I rate the bloke, looks very much a class above, but his efforts below his knees and when the ball hits the deck could absolutely use a bit of work. Someone else pointed it out, might've been Monocle and they were spot on.

Marking contests he's competing and performing well above expectations, but i don't think he's at the point where he's peaked in the WAFL development and simply has to be played at AFL level. Got a long way to go, no rush on him playing.

I'd just manage with Hedwards/Brock/Bazzo as our KPD's until we can draft one properly. Rather than try turning our new KPF's into defenders and throwing out their development. Shanahan looks settled at WAFL, Archer looks reasonably settled at AFL, just leave it.

Its more his fitness next preseason he will improve greatly with a full pre-season
He has come vic country and wasnt that professional its why he has so much growth

Interesting that Horsley didn’t have Grego in his best players.

Also might be the first time I’ve see him be less than glowing in his remarks for a couple of players, though he still couched it in positive terms, eg “I have no doubt he will respond”. (That’s not a criticism btw, just an observation, I don’t expect him to pot his players)

Tendency to not only list AFL players in the best? (A guess, I haven’t checked his history.)

I’d have thought Grego was clear cut BOG, with Brockman the one to fade if that’s what he was needing to do, given how quiet he was early.

I think Lucassen was in there last week, not sure about the two practice games we got reviews on.

It may be a way to limit the fans rioting when he doesn't debut. If he's in the bests and doesn't get upgraded then people have a right to ask questions.

What a joke for Allen not be playing WAFL. I guess we should be expecting him to be back to his best next week. 🤞
Saves him from being "dropped" when he should actually be finding form in the twos.
"Oscar has had a heavy workload and played more AFL minutes than any of our players, and we anticipated we would need to manage him in the near future,” General Manager Football Gavin Bell said.

“This week with back-to-back six-day breaks and following travel was the right time to give him a break to freshen up."

So emergencies notwithstanding, should have Cole, Bo Allan, Bailey Williams, Brock and Hall all playing this week after losing Flynn and Kelly.

Other than the ruck it's arguably a stronger team than last week. Gov and Hewett both fit means more numbers for the Beagles.

If emergencies are not needed they will be released to play for the beagles.
It will be 15 afl listed players.

All five named in the side. 15 AFL listed players named on field plus Rawlinson on the extended bench. (Presumably he makes the cut but it’s a bit of a kick in the pants for him)

If the sub comes on in Q4 I wouldn't be against them dropping down and playing managed minutes for the Beagles the following day either.

Would get more out of that than doing extra running after the game.

Building a winning culture for the Beagles can't be understated.

Mainly all kids though - Cole, Petch and Williams the only ones with over 50 AFL games to their name

I'll find watching Grego along with hopefully angry Bo Allen and classy boi Shanahan more entertaining than watching Tim Kelly in the midfield again in the AFL team tbh.

Bring on Saturday

Jeez how average is Rawlinson, to be named on the interchange bench for WC Ressies. Hope he’s got a good plan for life after footy.

The forward line is comprised entirely of listed players - Petruccelle, Long, Brockman and Champion have been named onfield ahead of him. Was likely a coin toss between him and Champion for the last front six spot

Yeo (Wing), Lucassen (Rover) and Ewing (HB) are the top ups named on field - Rawlinson isn’t playing any of those positions
