I guess the upside with the battle of the talls is depth and pressure for a spot.
Sucks that the Hawk-Tuahs have lost the last two games before facing us.
Will watch the Cats game today...

Has Yeo had a setback in rehab?

On March 4th....

“Elliot is back running and will continue to increase his loads over the next few weeks before we see him in some training drills,” Inness said.

That was 7 weeks ago and he is still listed as 4-5 weeks.

This has the makings of a classic Yeo "missed" season.

Yep. Was mentioned in the injury thread a week ago.

Judging by Gavin Bell’s comments on SEN this morning it will be Archer Reid out for Oscar.

Something like “might be an opportunity for our younger guys to go back and learn more about our system” or something that can be read as go back to play for the Beagles and get belted.

LOL, what an amazing opportunity! Go back and learn about our system of getting flogged. Honestly, there is no benefit for a young player in our WAFL team other than getting some match fitness.
I'm not hating on Oscar but his form has been putrid and at the moment our best forward line set up is JWill, AReid and Waterman. Bringing Allen in for any of those 3 weakens or team IMO.
I can understand their reason for wanting to back the captain in and the ramifications for his Trade/contract value if he spends too long out of the team but I would prefer he didnt play this week, goes back to the WAFL and earns a recall.
If Archer genuinely needs a spell then Im Ok with that, look after our young assets. But with a 9 day break, I don't think its required unless he is carrying some niggles.
If we must squeeze Oscar back in Id prefer Hedwards went out and Oscar goes down back.

I think if we can keep the number of AFL listed players up in the WAFL then it will work towards being viable long term, but it's so dependent on injuries and then if we take 2 travelling emergencies it further weakens the WAFL squad. If we can field a team with numbers like we did on the weekend then great, but it's just so rare to have that squad available.

I agree mostly unchanged makes sense but would kind of love to see Grego a sneaky chance to experience the road trip back home and bring even more enthusiasm to the young crew after what was a great effort game against Essendon

training underway and there’s no sign of Oscar Allen yet. Was granted a couple days away but according to Andrew Mcqualter was back at the club on Monday and is expected to be available for clash with

Can go the other way, adds that little bit of pressure to them and possibly put s that slight hint of doubt in some of their younger players.
Good point. If we can bring the same pressure and contested possies and keep up the pace, could rattle them. Here's hoping.

Something tells me by half time you might be thinking differently my guy.

I'd recommend a seat with a direct route to the traino 🚆 👍🏼

hahaha, over in Melbourne with a big group who are all going to the Geelong V Carlton game. But got to go see the Eagles and support them.
Yes I know it could get ugly but so be it. Seen us get smashed a lot last few years so it's not like it's a surprise.

How early i leave is up tot he team.

It's hard to argue that Allen's cumulative output is greater than either one of Williams, Reid or Waterman though. Will want to perform in this game.

Hard to argue OA's cumulative output is greater than one Matty Taberner (u know, that bloke from Freo we all laughed at).

Mind you, he has 30 odd games up his sleeveless jumper by which to turn it around and out do Matty (crab) Tabs cumulatively, hopefully starting with the Hawks this week.

Allen averaging more goals a game than Taberner despite being occasionally used as a key defender (particularly earlier in his career), which I can’t recall Taberner ever doing.

That’s my takeaway from that comparison.

and also spending majority of his career as a third tall behind JK and JD, as well as being used as a fill in ruck. Stats don't tell the whole story.

I don't know why we're so reluctant to just try Allen in a different position, he's played defensive roles before and even pinch hit in the ruck.

Despite all this it's likely we'll just try to slot him into a forward line that already has Waterman JWilliams and AReid.

A move to a different line group could be just what he needs to gain some form back

Hmmmm....

In OA & one Nash you shall not pass style tackle on Watson (guaranteed to stop the ducking).

Out Archer.

Dewar to sub.

P.S. not really serious about the Nash tackle. Can't bring Cole in because he is guaranteed to give Watson at least 2 high frees right in front of the goals.

Per Keys

For those playing at home, these are the time frames given for Yeo in the official injury updates:

4/3: 6-8 weeks
11/3: 5-7 weeks
18/3: 5-6 weeks
25/3: 4-5 weeks
1/4: 4-5 weeks
8/4: 4-5 weeks
15/4: 4-5 weeks

In the 8/4 injury report (ie his third week of being stalled on 4-5 weeks), Inness gave this update

3729D56B-2B02-428B-B317-D10266387A8D.jpeg

Will wait and see whether he’s made any progress in the last week but I’m not hopeful.

He has been swung around this year though?

I just hope he regains some form somewhere. Probably carrying some kind of injury, so hopefully the week off has done him some good.
