Is it odd that I hope that we don't go after Chad Warner?
I tend to agree. The last attacking midfielder we brought in was Tim Kelly and the price we paid has had a significant impact on our quality since. We feel like we've done well here, we have some good kids that will have another 20 games experience, and we have a nice hand next draft - I'd be happy to keep buiding internally.

So we shouldn't do any deals in case someone does a worse one later in the draft.

Did I say that? Just don’t think we got Baker for value at all given how valued first rounders in this draft were. We seemed to be the only club who didn’t value them as much.

LDU is a Restricted FA meaning Norf with their massive salary cap can match.

Surely he will be better value than a draft pick 5 prospect!

The Bont is the only Unrestricted FA that I can envisage that would trigger a band 1.

There may be Restricted FA players that a club would not match. Not sure on that list but it will include Oscar, Bayshaw, Draper, Starcevich, et al
Very unlikely they match and he stays. He wouldn’t be leaving because they don’t match the contract.

A lot will depend on where they finish and if the think they can get there in a trade then what the compo is. Doubtful unless they break into the top half of the later

I have no idea what Clarkson will do. Nothing can be assumed in so far as Norf

Are Dockers fans still mad as hell that we took their beloved Bo Allen from them? I legit saw them lose their mind a couple days ago and I couldn't believe it.

Little brother syndrome has to be the worst.
I can't imagine they'd be too upset. They would have kept one of 10 or 11 if they wanted him.

Doesn’t matter what he does. if they match and LDU has already decided to move on, highly doubt it changes his mind to stay. Then they would have to try and get trade value better then top 5 pick likely (assuming North finish bottom 5)

If they match, you do realise he has no real option but to stay or to sit out of football

I am thinking there will be loads of offers to move up the boards in 2025. The pointy end has some special talents.

Dyson Sharp looks a clear favourite and the guy has already played SANFL as a bottom ager, and he did not look out of place in the finals for Central Districts. I would expect the Crows and Port to be salivating and be ready to offer multiple R1 picks to get him.

Duursma will be the 4th of the offspring to be drafted and from what I see, they keep getting better. Watch the Vic clubs come hard for that pick and he will be in the very pointy end.

QLD well represented with Lions having another bloody top midfielder in Annables and Suns have another top 10 prospects in Uwland and another possible 3 later in R1/R2 talents in Addisall, Murray and Patterson. Meanwhile Sydney has 2 late R1/early R2 in Carmichael and Chamberlain.

Thomas McGuane is a Pies F/S while Kalani White will need to decide F/S to Demons or Academy to Suns. I It will likely change but right now I don't see R1 in either of these prospects.
Beau Addinsall is just as good as Annable and better than Uwland. There was some northern academy politics at play, with him missing the Allies team.

Very good chance he’s the first northern academy player bid on.

I'm hoping Warner re-signs for Sydney to take the option off the table.

Be nice to load up with some more early picks

*But I'd also be happy to get him lol

Signs for a few years to get him to FA & then we pounce. Keep draft capital & get him as icing on the cake.

Sorry, but this kind of response really shouldn’t be acceptable on our board.

It’s hysterical, belligerent and rather rude.

If you’ve got a different viewpoint or perspective, try to articulate it in a coherent and intelligent manner. This ain’t it.

He’s a Gold Coast kid. My post was in reply to AsterixTheGaul listing him as a possible late first round pick.

I’m ok with it.

I had to go and google who Tori Black is/was.

Suggest people wait for their wife and kids leave the room before doing so.

I had a feeling that might be the case...Either way, I'd had enough of the leg up for the North....Albeit with my normal Saturday night spin :kissingheart:

I know, that you know, how I roll.

The club already feels completely different now with the young players that we've brought in. But with a draft hand like that for 2025, you'd probably think that we would be in a good position to nail down the remaining missing pieces necessary to finish up the rebuild.

It would just be about getting games and experience into the lads at that point.

Warner would upset the applecart significantly, and require us to relinquish significant draft capital. Typically you'd trade in players of his ilk once all the other pieces are in place - I think it's a little premature to be chasing a player like Chad Warner.
The problem with relying on the young guys is they need at least 3 preseasons before they can consistently impact (5 for the talls). If you wait for that then you run the risk of the culture falling apart as you have too many losing seasons with no light at the end of the tunnel. See Gold Coast as the prime example and North as an example (albeit with poor drafting).

Conversely, we've had 4 drafts we're we've gone hard on young talent (2021-2024), that's a lot of players. If we get Warner over, we should have enough blend of experience and youth across all lines to at least jump up into mid table contention (ie a hope of finals). As the young guys mature, we should then move to top 4.
